Re: Vote: Mopar or volant cai

1 month ago I would have said Volant.

Now after being the aFe prototype tester for the last couple weeks I would say hold out for the aFe system. At least wait until Tuesday when I get my pre/post dyno results. :-)

Re: Vote: Mopar or volant cai

I'm very interested in the dyno results - thanks for being the guinea pig! However, I would question if there would be any measurable difference between intakes, as they are all basically the same design (air box withstanding).

I am interested to see if there is measurable difference as well, especially since aFe makes Volant's filters haha

Re: Vote: Mopar or volant cai

As far as the Mopar CAI goes, the warranty will remain in tact ... I'm really liking the Volant CAI and seems to me to be the better of the 2 options. I'm assuming the Volant CAI and warranty will not play nice together?

In order for Jeep to "void" a warranty they must prove that the aftermarkrt part in question directly caused a failure that would not have occured with an oem part. This is all covered under the Magnuson-Moss act if you feel like reading up on it.

The Volant with the Donaldson PowerCore is superior to any filter that aFe makes.

I am familiar with that act. Since this mod is pretty much the starting point of the vehicle running, it would be easy for a dealer to say that is the root of the problem w/o providing actual proof that the CAI is the origin of the issue. I have had issues like that in the past wherein the dealer tried to use the excuse that an aftermarket turboback system was the cause of a CEL being thrown for a bad sensor on a stock intake. After a good amount of grief, I got them to admit to the exhaust system not being the cause of a bad sensor since they could not provide any proof and got the warranty work approved.

Really I don't feel like going through all that noise on a new car. So the allure of a factory mod is evident but I think the Volant system is overall better quality and better execution. I'm really not into modding anymore, I guess I've gotten most of the performance mod bug out of my system. That being said, the sound of the HEMI really isn't there in the factory setup, which is somewhat of a disappointing.

Volant is what I installed. Sounds nice to me with the stock exhaust
