What engine swap would you do?

Just a random question to see what people will say here...

If you were running a 3.6L WK2 and money were no option, what engine swap would you do? Would you stay in the same family and do a HEMI swap or would you get creative and do something like an LS1/2?

This is all just in fun, not really attempting to do anything....yet....but just from a few calculations, if you add a blower on a 3.6L Pentastar, you may get 100 more HP but if you could get an LS1 or bigger motor/cam in there, you'd making that much or more without the blower. Cost would be probably a bit more with an engine swap due to needing a transmission swap, maybe driveshaft swap and probably either ECU swap or completely remove and do something custom there.

All things considered, what say you, experts?

Personally, if money was no object then I'd save myself all the hassles and heartaches and simply buy a Hellcat.

Re: What engine swap would you do?

agreed, the newer GC Hellcat/Trackhawk or whatever is pretty sweet looknig. 707HP is nuts, but amazing.

If the deal was just the engine/tranny/computer and assorted goodies, what motor and why? Seems like a lot of the bigger motors like the HEMIs are awesome AND amazing, all both at the same time, but seems like the LS style has more lower end torque which is what Id really be after and lots more aftermarket goodies. Its not a HUGE Beat engine so I would assume *yeah yeah I know.....* that it would fit, but not sure how much of a B that would be IF it were a possibility.

Re: What engine swap would you do?

Unfortunately, the new engine management systems are tied into all of the hosting vehicle systems. Your dash, a/c, everything is linked.

For argument sake - LS1 and related auto with autonomous ECM and tranny controller. Dakota digital for dash functions, and a programmed fooler for the HVAC and lighting functions. Throw in a customer transfer case adapter, prop shaft, drive shaft, and ABS fooler module, and you could crank 900 HP all day long, or until the axles started puking gears.

Everything listed above could be yours for around $45K. Cheaper than a SRT8 low mile used, but you'd be out of a ride for 6 months waiting on it to get finished...

Re: What engine swap would you do?

I'd stick with the SRT motor. If money were no object I probably wouldn't be putting much more into the 5,000 lb JGC than a few mods to open up the SRT model and would put it towards another AMG car.

Re: What engine swap would you do?

There are so many better starting points than a V6 WK2. You wouldn't have the suspension or brakes necessary to properly equip such a swap. It could all be done, but a better choice if you want a fast WK2 is just go get an SRT.

Re: What engine swap would you do?

Cool, thanks for the feedback guys. Im trying to get some creative thinking from everyone instead of "just go buy x". Of course thats the obvious and least imaginitive answer possible. Since this is more a fun question than a practical one, I was just curious what ultra customized stuff (if any) interests anyone. I have more of an engineering kind of thinking and always want to figure out ways to overcome crazy obstacles and find creative solutions for problems.

Re: What engine swap would you do?

I'd better equip v6 with charger and bolt on srt brakes and bilstein shocks/springs rather then screw a mind with engine swaps.

Considering that there is a company out there doing LS swaps into Jeep JK Wranglers...

An LS swap isn't that far off base.

Bruiser Conversions (they used to do Cummins B39 swaps into JKs).

The LS really is the "next generation" small block Chevy. People are shoe-horning that beast into anything. And the options are unlimited. From junkyard iron block LS3 all the way to Dart aluminum block LS7 (427cid) 2000hp monsters.

Re: What engine swap would you do?

I'll check back in 2 years. If you haven't done an engine swap, I will be disappointed in you.
