Padgett, you probably have me on the finer details. It's been a good 15 years since I delved into those intricacies. I used to build one off turbo conversions and other mods for the Japanese compact scene. Feels like another life ago.

Re: What grade of gas are you usin(g and do you feel the diff?

I tried both and saw zero difference in gas mileage and power. When I tow I do plan on using 89 so I can benefit from the anti knock octane. The manual says its OK to run 87. It just reccommends 89 for optimum performance.

I have put in 87 and 89 here in Denver. I haven't really seen too big of a difference with gas mileage or power heading up to the mountains.

Re: What grade of gas are you usin(g and do you feel the diff?

As peckmv said the owners manual says 89 recommended and 87 acceptable. When I run the 87 I have noticed a difference so I try to run 89 most of the time.

Re: What grade of gas are you usin(g and do you feel the diff?

Back when I had a Mustang GT the recommendation was 89. I frequently had knocking problems and I attributed to gas stations not mixing enough 91 with 87 to get the correct octane.

"Recommendation" from Jeep is for 89. I run 87 and am quite happy. (Costco doesn't even sell 89...LOL) I see no reason to pay more for the higher octane unless I notice that things are not working well. I routinely get 20-21 MPG on the highway and average about 16 ratting around in normal rural driving. (Slight less now that it's cold outside)

Funny, Sam's Club does not sell 89 either
87 with my Hemi and no issues

I used 89 for the first 4k miles and then ran a tank of 87.....I could hardly tell the difference. Been running 87 since without issues.

I just pump 89 and not worry about it.
