What is everyone's MPG?

Secret to high MPG is to drive with the Mrs!

Made same exact trip twice this week and first run with just me and my son was 24 MPG

Second run with daughter and wife and airing down tires 3psi was 26 MPG!

Guess have the 'throttle monitor' on board really does save fuel!

Re: What is everyone's MPG?

Recent road trip - 475 miles in 8 hours, cruise control at about 70 most of the way with a bit of stop-start driving at the end, A/C on = 27 MPG. I didn't believe the computer until I filled the tank and did the maths myself. Normal driving, which for me is 75% short highway trips and 25% suburban putting around = 21-22 MPG. 2016 3.6 Limited 4WD with 2200 miles on it.

This inspired me to check mine this morning. 12 hemi here and my rpm's were just at 2k as well.
I didn't expect the 8 speed to be as high.

Re: What is everyone's MPG?

Here is a trip a few months back with my 2014 5.7 V8 Hemi 4x4 GC Summit using regular(87) gas. The hemi can do pretty good on highway cruises, using cruise control can let the MDS stay in 4 cylinder mode a bit more and help the averages.

Re: What is everyone's MPG?

Had a 500 ish mile trip this weekend and averaged 25 MPG. 70% highway, some traffic, and cruising between 65 and 80 MPH.

Re: What is everyone's MPG?

Last six fill-ups (after installing 32" tires), I'm right 18.5 MPG (using iPhone app). Not bad when you consider I'm running bigger and wider tires. I'm also gentler with throttle.

Re: What is everyone's MPG?

I don't know why but mine is terrible, especially for a 3.6. I'm pretty light on the throttle, have a commute that's about 10 miles each way of no traffic highway, and I don't use sport mode.

I've put in 2 tanks since purchasing, 17.19 and 15.69. Overland is 100% stock, 33k miles, been putting 89 octane in. I do use remote start and A/C is always on in Arizona.

What's the deal? I'm coming from an E-class AMG that averaged 21-23 out of a 5.4L V8.

Pretty low I guess but it's probably due to the crap gas and air out here. Maybe pull the battery for a half hour to try and reset the adaptives. Also is 89 required? Try 87

With a 10 mile each way daily commute, you are probably halfway to your destination or halfway home before the engine is fully warmed up. That mileage still seems low to me though. Depending on the speeds you travel, I would expect at least 18.

You mentioned that you've only put two fillups in since purchasing the vehicle though. If this is a brand new vehicle, I wouldn't worry about gas mileage until the engine is broken in. If not a new vehicle, there may be an issue. Try taking it on a long drive on the expressway, averaging @ 65mph and see what you get. I drove my 2014 from Cincinnati to San Antonio on the expressway this past April and averaged over 24 and that included running from Dallas to San Antone on that 80 mph toll road (and I didn't always stay under 80).

Didn't get quite that high of mileage on the way back, but I came back on almost all back roads through east Texas to Natchez, up the Natchez Trace Parkway (which took me four days to go about 400 miles), then to Mammoth Cave and back to Cincinnati. On that part of the trip, I averaged around 23.

Of course, high temperatures also can work against fuel mileage.
