What octane gas?

What octane gas is everyone using? I have been filling up with the premium (usually 91) but I am wondering if I am just wasting money. Is the regular gas sufficient? Will I lose MPG, etc?

Re: What octane gas?

Regular is sufficient for the V6. I believe the hemi likes midgrade 89 octane, but many report that 87 works fine on that too. Putting in premium is a waste of money unless the vehicle specifically calls for it. MPG shouldn't be affected.

I've been using 87 with my hemi and there have been no issues.

Re: What octane gas?

When I bought my 2012 Limited I asked the sales person what octane gas to use. He told me that the 3.6L is tuned for 87.

On top of that he said that no matter what you use, just to stick with one grade. I've been putting 87 and im happy with that. Gas here in San Diego is 4.45 per gallon for 87.

Re: What octane gas?

I use 89 and the difference in price from 87 to 89 is 10cents.
