Re: What the F is going on with AFE?

I called the other day... shipment was still pending on the afe stage 2 for the 3.6. So I said I want a refund. The guy stated that the intake pipes were bent wrong and they were working on fixing the problem. So it takes 3 months to bend a pipe right? What a joke...

Ended up purchasing an airaid intake and will be hear on Tuesday per UPS tracking.

Mine shipped yesterday and will arrive on Monday. UPS already shows it arrived in the city. Ordered from autoanything. I wonder what I'll be doing Monday night...?

That's good news, I'll keep my fingers crossed and pray that mine ships on the 20th.

Re: What the F is going on with AFE?

I ordered mine from Summit Racing on Sept 11 . I got the notice the order was shipped Sept 14 ... so maybe they are getting everything fixed.

I would Guess , they will take care of the stores like Summit and Jegs first , They are their money makers .
Oh this was shipped from the MFG , Not from Summits warehouse

Mine came in three days and is already on! its the same one you guys are waiting on. Search on Ebay, there is a vendor that has them in stock. I cant list his ebay name because he isn't a sponsor. I've had the Volant and Mopar...this by far works the best to me. The intake pipe is 4" so it compliments my 85mm TB perfectly.

Re: What the F is going on with AFE?

I received my aFe Stage 2 CAI last night and did a "quick" install. Here are some notes.

In the first photo, I've numbered items 1-4.

1) The instructions indicate to remove the temp sensor with a "clockwise" 90 degree turn. It's counterclockwise.
2) When you remove the stock intake, you need to remove the vacuum canister to install the new front intake pipe. Tightening the canister back into place with the pipe attached to it will cause it to straighten up into place so that it can properly connect to the air box and the straight pipe coming from the throttle body. Don't tighten it all the way snug as you will need some play to properly connect it at both ends.
3) Although you'd figure it out, there is a tab that locks the front seal that runs along the front of engine compartment to the air intake. Be careful as you remove this as you will need it when you reinstall the air intake once it's attached to the aFe air box.
4) Once installed, the intake pipe fits pretty snug against some wires right there. I have a photo that shows it.

As has been stated elsewhere, the instructions are "lacking." But, you can more or less figure things out. The fit and finish are great except for 3 things, in my opinion:

1) Item #4 above and picture #2. I just don't like the way the pipe rests on that bundle of wires.
2) Picture #3. The grommet that comes with the kit that allows you to install the temp sensor in front of the throttle body is not a snug fit and barely seals the hole. There is way too much play.
3) There was no thought to the now dangling power steering tube that was initially connected with a tab to the stock air box. I'm thinking about drilling a hole in the top of the upper left support stand of the new air box compartment (above the stock grommet location) and simply push in the tab I carefully popped out during the install.

After driving it around for about 15 mins after the install, I did hear it breathing more aggressively when I got my foot into the pedal and I did feel that it had some more "umph." I wasn't expecting a ton and my expectations were met. I'll have to wait and see what the computer does after a couple of hundred miles or so. But, my initial observations are positive. One thing is for certain, the kit does look nice under the hood.

Re: What the F is going on with AFE?

1st world problems

i would've just bought the K&N or Volant instead of waiting for aFe to fix their production issues iirc?
