Re: Who needs a Prius... I'm getting 40+ mpg

Ok so your using 42.3 liters of fuel for evey 100 km of driving. That's incredibly bad. You must have just done a reset? It's funny...but bad. For the fella that just complained about gas jumping 30 cents a gallon in the states, considder this. Regular octane fuel in some parts of Canada just hit $1.30 a litre. That's $4.94 a gallon for regular!!!! That's far worse than the .95 cents a litre or $3.60 a gallon you currently pay. I may have to park the hemi and drive my old 96 Laredo straight six at these prices.

Re: Who needs a Prius... I'm getting 40+ mpg

The 42.3 is in MPG - I changed the the units in the EVIC over to "English" instead of metric before I snapped the pic. Makes it easier to compare as the majority of members seem to be from the States.

Re: Who needs a Prius... I'm getting 40+ mpg

If the WK2 really did get 42 MPG, the tank would last for over 1K miles LOL

I wish it lasted for that long..... I would dump my Liberty faster than a chick that is pregnant with my child

I'd LOVE to have gas at 1.30/L! I live in Korea, where it's over $2/L and rising...

Your'e doing a lot better than me! I get 9 MPG in city driving and that's with taking it easy on the gas. If I had a lead foot it would probably be around 6 to 7 MPG.
I'm stopping in to the dealer on Thurs and ask WTF is up with this! From what I'm reading in some threads, the ESC update helps with gas mileage.
Hope this holds true.

I hope so, too. I have a mid-December build date so my ride qualifies. I'd be interested in what you learn, Bob.

The only way you get 40+ mpg's in a jeep is if it's getting towed. LOL

Not recommended but, I once got something over 50 MPG in my old Chevy PU for a stretch of over 60 miles. I was young and very foolish!

I drafted a truck on the freeway for that distance. My Chevy would normally get about 15 MPG on the freeway but the fuel needle didn't move for the entire 60 mile stretch. I guess I might have used a gallon of fuel.

In order to make that work, you need a good squarish truck that pushes a lot of air (it was a Beverage distributor's truck) and a trucker that doesn't care that you are doing it (very rare!). Then you need to follow way too closely to be safe.

I shudder now when I realize how stupid it was, but the MPG was incredible.

Please do not try this.
