Re: Who needs a Prius... I'm getting 40+ mpg

^^^ yeah I heard about that before. I never had the balls to try it tho. LOL I heard it's pretty easy to do on a bike.

I am also curious as Cperez and my Jeeps were siblings on the line together. I am 14.1, all city driving and also using the mid-grade sauce. My trick is to fill up the jeep when it is at 3/4 empty that way the cost is similar to what it was with my 4.7 v8 at full empty and I avoide the "I told you your V8 was going to be a gas hog" comments from my wife

In order to make that work, you need a good squarish truck that pushes a lot of air (it was a Beverage distributor's truck) and a trucker that doesn't care that you are doing it (very rare!). Then you need to follow way too closely to be safe.

I shudder now when I realize how stupid it was, but the MPG was incredible.

Please do not try this.
I have gotten it in the 50mpg + coming back down to Denver from the mountains. It amazing just how long you can go coasting from the top of the Eisenhower tunnel

Haha very nice. You do win!

I'm sorry to hear about all the issues with your Jeep and having to trade it in. For a time being I was pretty choked at some issues I had but thankfully they have now been resolved otherwise I might have been in the same situation. It's a horrible feeling having a brand new vehicle yet you can't enjoy it because your always listening for sounds etc etc. I hope the next purchase works out better for ya - good luck.

I hope that takes the sting out of the 4-5mpg fuel eco you get on the way up.

With the V8 I bet I could get it go to into the GPM instead of MPG going up

That's a negatory. Winding out each gear = higher revs = thirstier.

agreed! except for me as soon as I put it in sport mode, not only does my WK2 lower itself to the ground, the roof lowers, the body narrows, it kicks in an 8 speed tranny and the color changes to Inferno Red! This causes me to mash on the gas like there is no tomorrow. Hence zero gas milage it sort of looks like this
