Not sure if there is anything like this but want to create a specific thread that contains all exhaust talk for the 5.7 application such as what brands currently produce systems that fit any V8 model or model specific(non SRT). Also if they are axle back or cat back.
So far I've only heard of and seen vids on youtube for: Flowmaster forceII, borla, corsa. What other brands are out there? Please feel free to post vids of any you find or of your setup.
I have a Magnaflow cat back exhaust in the mail hoping to receive it this week or next. Pics and vids will follow the install. Should compliment the K&N intake without being loud and obnoxious.
I've got a Corsa 14457 on order and should have it installed in a week or two. I will post pics/video later. It was an easy decision for me being the only drone free system available.
I custom made mine with a couple of magnaflow mufflers and I could not be happier ... I had the Gibson and I hated it.
I got Magnaflow 11385 in the center and 2x Magnaflow 14814's in the rear, and I had it all mandrel bent 2.5" pipe. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice deep tone, quiet while cruising but MEAN when you step on it. ALSO NO DRONE

I used the same center muffler but I don't have the rear mufflers - just straight pipe into 4.5" tips that fill out the stock cutouts nicely.
Just barely louder than stock while cruising, but sounds great when you get on it. Zero drone (I always drive with the electronic range selector in "6" so MDS never engages).
Most of the cat-back systems I looked at were $1k+ and I paid $500 for the muffer, tips, and labor at my local exhaust shop and am extremely pleased with the results.
I hope the Magnaflow I have on order has no or minimal drone. Not even sure what the drone could sound like. Looks like a nice clean setup with a lifetime warranty. I have the cat back kit in the mail so I hope I'll be happy with it. Looking for a nice mellow deep tone nothing loud and ******* but truck obnoxious.
a mate that owns an exhaust shop knocked this up last week for me, hes done his own and several others. Sounds very throaty not loud, replaced from the cats back, used a MagnaFlow x chamber in the rear
Looks identical to the cat back kit they offer for the Hemi that i have coming minus the black pipes. Thanks for the pics. Can't wait to get mine set up.
Me personally I'm looking for your typical SUV exhuasthe sound. Loud and throaty. Similar to the flowmaster outlaws but they do not have that set for the JGC. Why? I don't know.
Is any heat shielding necessary to protect the spare tire well from excessive heat from the Magnaflow X chamber in the rear? The OEM mufflers have heat shields in the wells they sit in.
I've got a K&N intake and I loved how it sounded. Went to a local exhaust shop and had them cut out the center suitcase muffler and weld in straight pipes for $60. It sounds amazing now. Cheapest mod that will put a smile on your face.
Any chance you can post a video or recording? I've been considering this for a while, but concerned about it being too loud it causing drone. Any noticeable change in performance? All of that mess in the suitcase has to restrict flow.
I want my WK2 to sound like my WK (like it actually has a HEMI that I paid an extra 5 grand for). I found 2 videos (below) of a WK2 that sounds close to the WK:
Struggling a little bit guys. I have the Gibson axleback on my V8 and want a bit more grunt. Will getting a replacement suitcase muffler do the trick? And if so which one? Or maybe swapping it out for an X-pipe? Or will the drone be too bad. I am in a pickle and don't quite have the money to get a whole new catback exhaust. Thanks to anyone that can help with this in advance. I have been reading for a couple days but haven't quite found the answer.
Still struggling. I am leaning toward just taking the suitcase muffler out and putting straight pipes in its place with the Gibsons installed. Anyone know if the drone will be bad or if the Gibson resonators in back are what control the drone. Thanks.
Oh man the drone would be terrible. From my experience the Gibsons are just hollow cans and increase drone. I swapped them out and tossed them in the garbage. Then went with my current setup in my sig.
Thanks for the response. Right now I have zero drone with the Gibsons, just want it a bit louder. I also have the mds disabled. Every shop around says they can't replace the suitcase muffler because of its awkward size so that's why I thought of just removing it. I love small town Wisconsin but it sucks for customizing.
DaMitsuMan, I would scrap the Gibson & replace it with a Corsa exhaust! The only warrantied true 'no drone' exhaust & I have yet to see anyone not happy with a Corsa! The Corsa is not cheap but you get what you pay for!
I'm upgrading my 2006 5.7 GC exhaust and have the chance to get an X pipe from a 2006 srt8. It's a magnaflow x pipe. Will this fit by chance my 5.7??? By eye , looks close....any help is appreciated
Yeah they do. I have it installed. They have a video in YouTube that does a good job. It's moderately quiet but with an intake its decent under heavy acceleration. I am debating removing the middle muffler for a little louder sound.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
