WK2 Hemi Towing

Anyone towed a trailer in the 5-6,000 lbs range with a Hemi WK2 yet? Curious on how it handles this type of load.

Tows extremely well with 1,000 lbs behind it.

Re: WK2 Hemi Towing

I towed a 6x12 enclosed trailer with probably 2500lbs total weight and it towed very well. At times, I was upward of 80mph for long stretches. The tow/haul mode on new vehicles is so nice, it actually does something versus just locking out OD.

Re: WK2 Hemi Towing

I have a 5000 lb - 6000 lb rig that I'll be towing extensively over the spring and summer. I'm waiting to get about 1000 miles and do an oil change on the Overland before I even hook it up but I'll do a trial pull as soon as I reach that milestone and post up the results.

Re: WK2 Hemi Towing

Anyone else have any experiences to add? I currently have a 2011 Overland V6 and am looking hard at a Jayco X213 travel trailer (4300lbs). I test towed it with the V6 and it'll do the job but I'm debating getting into a 2011/2012 Overland with the Hemi. I only bought the V6 a year ago and hate wasting $ by trading so soon but if people can support my choice and think the Hemi is worth it, then it might be the way to go.

Re: WK2 Hemi Towing

I pulled about 7,000 lb about 40 miles with no problems at all. But then, I used to pull the same load behind my 2006 Trailblazer with straight 6 with no problems either.

Re: WK2 Hemi Towing

Towed my Dad's boat and trailer, wakeboard type @5000-6000lbs one weekend when our diesel truck was in for repairs and the hubby was quite impressed. We're in between buying trucks, but we have a camping trip booked for end of May and we don't have any concerns about towing the 6500lb travel trailer in a pinch. It's why I went with the Hemi =)

Re: WK2 Hemi Towing

I recently completed a 2000Km trip towing my 2000kg boat and trailer, equates to 4400 lbs if my math is right and Hemi had no problems, even through the mountains

Re: WK2 Hemi Towing

I pull a 5000 pound horse trailer a few times a month. Pulls great. I don't use a weight distributing hitch.

Re: WK2 Hemi Towing

Good to go here with 5,500 lb +\- boat loaded up with gear and gas.

No problem at altitude and mountain ascents and descents. It's not only the Hemi, but HD brakes, trans cooler, and heft. Comfortable, stable, safe.

I pulled same rig with a v6 touareg, but it was full time pucker factor waiting for something to blow. Would not take this setup for any length of mileage or hilly terrain.

Re: WK2 Hemi Towing

Tow a 23 foot Crownline cuddy, trailer and boat are about 6500lbs.

Tows just fine, I have electric brakes which helps but I've been very pleased.
