Re: X pipe with muffler delete OR Reso delete?

thanks any part numbers that you can help me out with? did you do it yourself? Did you keep stock reso's how did you bolt up to spring bolts from cats?

Lots of questions but want this done soon. Does the X-pipe sit underneath drive train that went in the U of the suitcase or of to the side?

Cut the suitcase muff entry pipes behind the OEM spring clamps so the back exhaust can still be unbolted and dropped. The X Pipe sits where the very backside of the OEM suitcase muff was below the drive shaft. Yes I kept the stock resonators. I learned my lesson with the 300c. DO NOT remove the OEM resonators unless you plan on adding in other resonators AND mufflers. It will be too loud, droney and just plain nasty. The entire point is to get some growl from the V8 and increase efficiency. NOT ruin the luxury and cruise-ability of the Jeep. Please trust me when I say leave the rear resonators on.

Re: X pipe with muffler delete OR Reso delete?

Thanks, more questions though. When you say cut behind the springs do you mean cut between the spring bolts and muff keeping spring bolts or between cat and bolts therefore deleting them. Can you see the x-pipe or is it up high and tight enough to underbody that it looks stock?

And I will be keeping resonators. this will be going on a 3.6.

thanks again

Look at the two pictures I posted, print them for reference. Cut on the OEM suitcase muff side. The X Pipe is in the same exact pipe path as the muffler was but it's not as deep so it tucks further up against the undercarriage resulting in more clearance.

Cool video thanks for the update. Sounds super loud or is it just me? How does it sound going 60-80mph? Drone or any tingy metal sounds when reving in the high rpm's

It has a loud throaty cold start. Other than that it's not loud until about 4K. There is zero drone and at 60 you can't hear it. 70 if you're paying attention and the radio is off you notice it.

I had to go WFO today due to a common US 19 asshole and about 4500 it had a ton of rasp which I didn't much care for. This doesn't bother me since it's not a race jeep and will hardly ever see high RPMs.

It doesn't sound very deep, or it could just be the video quality vs real life. What do you think about replacing the resos with glass packs? And how much did that cost you?

around $160 or something like that. It's nice and deep at idle. The problem is now I'm asking the resonator to deal with the additional sounds the suitcase muff previously took care of and it's too much at high RPMs. I would not replace the resonators with glass packs. If I had the urge to hear more and back off the rasp I'd use either maganaflow or Corsa mufflers

I did the mid-muffler delete and replace with X-pipe. Love it! Super cheap mod and nice aggressive sound when you get on it.

Sounds good! Did you replace the mufflers in the back or did you keep them stock?
