18" Tire pressures?

Hey all,

What tire pressures is everybody running on the 18's? I know the door panel says 33PSI, but I found airing them down makes it not track as well on the road and feel kind of rubbery, so I aired them up to 36PSI cold today and I like the ride much better (I have the Michelin Lattitudes). Higher PSI has the added benefit of slightly better fuel economy too (we'll see).

What is everybody else running and what has been your experience?

Re: 18" Tire pressures?

I use 36psi cold pressure in the Latitude 18s. I like the ride better (firmer).
Plus the higher pressure helps even out the wear since I am usually cornering at higher than average speed (more wear in centre balances with more wear at edges of tread over time).

It comes down to a personal preference.

Re: 18" Tire pressures?

Tire type also affects the ride quality I believe. At 33 psi on my 18" Blizzaks, they are not as compliant/smooth as 36 psi on the 20" Forteras. To get a similar ride on the Blizzaks, I had to drop the psi a little.

Re: 18" Tire pressures?

I keep 'em at 35, although I wasn't thinking and aired them up to 40 before a road trip to New Orleans. Worked fine and got pretty good gas mileage. Aired down when I got back and realized I over inflated.

Re: 18" Tire pressures?

I have mine at 35.

When I received the vehicle they were at 38. So much for "factory recommended" of 33, I guess.
