20" Tire Debate

I have a 2011 limited with the 20" rims. It seems that tires in this size are hard to choose between. I am looking for something that will last me "all season" and not a 3 season tire. I am looking for advice and or user experience on the two tires that I think I have this down to. All tire options need to be made in the 265/50/R20 size.

I am torn between the: Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus and the Firestone Destination ST. I live in northern virginia so I need something that is OK in snow. We don't get feet, but I don't want to have issues. I have run Michelin LTX MS/2 and they are my favorite, but don't come in this size. I know I can go large on my GC and get the LTX, but I have heard of that voiding the factory warranty, thus I am trying to stay in the stock size.

I am in the same sort of quandary. I want a tire that rides fairly nice on the road and can handle some snow, sand at the outer banks, and maybe a light trail.

I don’t want to be spending 200+ per tire. The Fortera’s on here are factory and lasted 50K miles and have 5K or so left. I was looking at the Yokohoma Pranda Spec-X as well as the Fortera’s or the Firestone ST’s…

I really dislike Goodyear’s, but if the Fortera’s can get 50K to 60K then I am ok with it. Wondering if the Firestone or Yoko would be better for wear, ride, and the snow/sand/dirt?

I live a little further south in the Richmond area. I wish they made the BFG Rugged Terrain tires in this size.

Greetings,

I had the BFG Rugged Terrain on the JGC when they first came out back in June of 2011. I developed a serve noise problem after 10K and the winter performance in the snow/ice was not very good. The tire has a hard compound that cause it not to grip in the colder weather. Other than that, in other conditions it did very well. The noise problem could have been from the first production run. The tech's could not never figured it out.

Best for now.:)
