2011 JGC brake power booster

Seems my power booster bit the dust and is on a national recall. My mechanic was lucky to find one in texas. Anyone have issue with their power booster? He said it is so bad Jeep will most likely do a recall eventually. 5.7 JGC 2011. Anyone have knowledge of this issue?

my 2012 jgc has the same problem and the dealer wants 700.00 to fix it / you talked about a recall?

My 2011 JGC 5.7 is at the dealership for a replacement brake booster. Pedal felt a little stiff last night. This morning the brake light is on and I hear a faint hiss when I hit the brake pedal with the engine running. Stopping a 5000 lb vehicle without boost is no fun and a new brake booster at 22,000 miles is not good. They need to issue a recall on this one.

Re: 2011 JGC brake power booster

The dealership gave me the part at no charge but charged me 332.50 to install it / my 2012 jgc is only 2 years old but is 5000 miles out of warranty so I am looking into extended warranties

My 2011 3.6 is in the shop right now. Apparently the part is coming from Detroit , so it's going to be a few days. Driving a POS Liberty, hopefully my GC will be ready early next week.

Re: 2011 JGC brake power booster

I'm in the same boat - 2011 JGC 5.7. The problem seems to be temperature related. They tried replacing the check valve first per Jeeps (desperate) replacement protocol. Worked fine yesterday as here in Mass the temp was above freezing. Today at 12 degrees the hiss was back.

Service rep told me there are no boosters in stock anywhere, and there are 300 units on backorder. Jeep is currently quoting 3rd week of Feb for delivery. Looks like the cold snap caused a bunch to fail.

Warming up the car for 10 minutes or so ahead of driving seems to help.

There is an open question as to whether or not they are trying to redesign the booster right now. If I hear anything I will post a response. If anyone else hears anything definitive on whether or not they are redesigning please post!

Well, it's been a week and a half and no part yet. Hopefully next week will bring some good news. The Liberty is not as bad as I thought ,still miss my GC.

Does anyone know exactly which component in the system is failing? Based on hissing I heard and the correlation with low temps I suspect the proportioning valve

Re: 2011 JGC brake power booster

I had the same problem with my jeep and got zero help from jeep customer service they didn't even return my calls. However I did file a complaint with Home | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and they are coming to check out the jeep this week and that they have gotten tons of complaints about this problem. You should all report the problem to them so we can get jeep to do whats right.

Re: 2011 JGC brake power booster

Count me as another who is waiting for this part. Took the GC in last week. Was told they should have the part today. Service manager calls me this morning and tells me they don't expect it until late February. Due to the length of this backorder, there's no doubt in my mind that this is a major issue affecting a lot of owners. I'm thrilled I got the extended warranty, however that only covers a rental car for 5 days. I opened a case with Chrysler and my case manager will contact me in 4 days. At that point I will insist I get an extension on my rental until this freakin part comes in and I get my GC back. Driving a base, FWD Liberty blows! :-(
