Re: 2011 with new tires

It depends on the balancer used and the patience of the tech. We have 3 machines that are fairly basic machines. They can balance anything like any other machine but its harder to get it just right. We have another machine that will get any wheel with any weight style balanced perfectly.

On average its easier to get a good balance from bead weights but so many OEM wheels use sticky weights now that tire techs are better and there are better machines to balance them on.

Bring them to a good well known show (i work at Town Fair Tire its a native new england chain) vs the small town shops. Small shops usually dont have as sophisticated a machine as the larger shops or wheel stores. The better the balancer the more accurate the balance will be.

Re: 2011 with new tires

I love the tires...personally been over black rims for a few now though...at least they aren't 20's...Everytime I see 20s on a Jeep I can't help but laugh...That'd be the first thing I'd ditch if I bought an Overland.

20's are not great for off road you have no side wall

Re: 2011 with new tires

Yeah terrible offroad and about 10 years late onroad. I put 20's on my '98 Navigator in like 2000...even worse is rims that just keep getting bigger...extra unsprung weight, lower side walls...just makes no sense. IMO anything over 17 shouldn't even be on a jeep. 20 and up looks weird on smaller SUVs anyway.

x2

I used to want 20s but after working at a tire shop and dealing with the installs and pain in the ass customers who do nothing but bitch, i am all set with my nice 17s.

I wish i could fit my old 04 Tj Rubicon 16" Moab wheels on it. Tires are cheaper too.

Not to mention that we have more issues with bent or out of round wheels on cars with bigger wheels then cars with 17s or smaller (for trucks 16s or smaller for cars)
