Re: 2012 jgc limited tire sizes

yes. Some have also been using 275 65 18.
Note that larger width tire on your spare will not allow the hatch to fully close.

Re: 2012 jgc limited tire sizes

I am running 285 60 18 with no issues or rubbing. I am keeping my 265 for a spare.. And will just put the larger tire in the boot when I go off roading.

QL or no QL? I'd like to go that size too but I don't have QL on my Limited. Thanks.

285/60/18 is actually half an inch shorter than a 275/65/18. But if you use the stock or mopar 18x8s with +56 offset you will more than likely have an issue with the 285 width tire hitting the upper control arm bolt. 275s on stock or mopar wheels come within millimeters of the bolt normally. An aftermarket wheel with a slightly less positive offset (+25 to +40 range) will help this issue.

hmmm...how about a small spacer to push the wheel out a little?

Re: 2012 jgc limited tire sizes

Kevlars,
That's interesting. I was planning to use 265/65/18s on my new Overland since that size spare also fits in the spare compartment and allows the lid to fully close. I also thought the 285/60/18s would probably rub on stock wheels. But if they do not, the 265/65/18 size could still be used as a spare in all situations, since it is the same basic diameter (31.5") as the 285/60/18.

Is this the combination you are using? How's the ride quality with the wider 285/60 tires? And did you notice any decrease in MPG from stock?

Re: 2012 jgc limited tire sizes

They are about the same for mpg. I think the ride is better on the 285's. I would do it all over again...one thing to note..rotate every 8k miles....

Re: 2012 jgc limited tire sizes

Yes, I've found that regular rotation is important on the various 4X4s I've owned because of front tire wear. Probably best to have a four-wheel alignment done after installing wider tires and/or wheels, as well. Might even be a good idea to have at least a front-end alignment done once a year or so.
