2012 Sahara 18" on 2011 JGC Overland

Do I need anything additional to use 18" wheels from a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara on my 2011 JCG Overland Hemi? Or will they bolt on as-is fine? I'm looking to use them for winter instead of the stock 20s. Thanks, Jason

Many have used them, check the suspension/wheel/tire section. I think there have been photos there. Wrangler wheels don't have as much back spacing so they will stick out just a tad more than the OEMs. If the wheels don't have TPMS sensors, you may want to add them or the warning light will be on continuously.

Re: 2012 Sahara 18" on 2011 JGC Overland

I got a set of those that I'm gonna use for my winter tires waiting to be mounted when my Overland arrives.
Before I bought them I did some research on the suspension/wheel/tire forums and lots of people use them. They fit.

Re: 2012 Sahara 18" on 2011 JGC Overland

Got the wheels and tires installed today. Everything seems solid and I really like the more aggressive look. Even the spare 5th wheel fits down in the compartment without the plastic containers.

The only problem is that the TPMS on the wheels from the Sahara aren't detected by the WK2.

I suspect that these Sahara wheels have the 315mhz sensors and from what I understand the 2011 WK2 (Overland + Hemi) uses the 433mhz variety.

Could someone point me to a model of sensor that will fit the 2011 Sahara 18" Wheels but communicate correctly the 2011 WK2 ?

Thanks,
Jason

Yes the 2011 WK2 uses its own pressure sensor and they are different than the other chrysler products. I bought a set for my second set of wheels. What tires did you put on those wheels?

Stock Bridgestone Dueler for now. Might change them out later on if I need a better snow tire at some point, but I'm hoping they are good enough for this season.

I will snap a couple of pictures and post them up tomorrow.

Any chance you have a model number for those TPMS? Is it 56029398AA?

According to this page, that's the right one.
http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_tpms.htm#SENSORS

Seem to be several going for about $80 for the 4 wheel set online. Do the WK2s not have a 5th on the spare wheel like some previous models?

Re: 2012 Sahara 18" on 2011 JGC Overland

You need the 56029398AA sensors, they are used on a wide variety of chrysler vehicles (on all 2011-2012 WK2s regardless of trim or options). I got OEM ones off ebay for $65 that work great. As mentioned above, wk2jeeps.com has a detailed description of the TPMS.

Dunno what came on the wrangler, I thought I read in the suspension/wheel/tire sub-forum of someone throwing newer wrangler wheels on the WK2 without issue. . It takes about 10 minutes of driving for the new sensor to be detected.

I don't think the spare has a sensor, if it does its not monitored.

Yes that's the correct part number. Be careful with non oem ones I have heard of people having trouble with them connecting.

Re: 2012 Sahara 18" on 2011 JGC Overland

I'd stick with the stock 18" wheels and get some BFGs.
