Re: 2012 Spare Tire

I would say you are right and would be fine running it till you get the original replaced. I can see the temporary full size spare maybe messing with the sensors since it probably has a different weight than the other 3. I think I also read somewhere in the manual that the Laredo like mine does not have a psi sensor in it but the upper trims do but then again I might be wrong on that.

Re: 2012 Spare Tire

Well after my accident a month ago, I can say that the full size spare is more than capable of handling the load for as long as you need it. The only downside to it is that it doesnt have a TPMS on it. I was able to drive from Baltimore to eastern NC on it, driving most the way on 95S at about 80 mph. As smooth as the stock wheel.

I too had to drive on my spare for a few days as my tire wheel was repaired for scrubbing the curb. Most annoying part was the flashing tire sensor light on the dash board because of the spare not having the sensor.

Re: 2012 Spare Tire

My Overland came with a Kumho 18" spare tire. I didn't see any writing on the sidewall stating it was only for temporary use. So is it a normal use tire? Sure looks it.

Re: 2012 Spare Tire

I know the thread says "2012" but here is a picture of the spare from a 2011 Laredo E. I had it on as a placeholder so I could rotate my tires.

I have to say, this tire/wheel is scary small! It is about as wide as a mountain bike tire. I can see using a donut on a small sedan or something, but the WK2???

Makes me want a full-size-spare just for safety sake. I'm thinking a set of 5 Wrangler wheel/tire take-offs might be in order when I'm due for new tires just so I can have a real, full matching spare.

Re: 2012 Spare Tire

That is why I went for either the off road package or all weather group when I was shopping for my Laredo because you get the full size 18" spare with it.
