2014 Suspension Bolt missing-Loud knock when turning
I'm new to the forum but I figured I would present this as a thread because it is an issue that we dealt with after purchasing a new 2014 Laredo. The Laredo was purchased about 8 months ago it was brand new 0 miles on it when purchased, my girlfriend drives it daily about 35 mile commute to work each day. after about a month worth of driving we took it on a long trip from NC to NY at the end of the trip I was driving and felt a large click when finally getting off the highway and turning left. For about the next a couple months of driving when turning right there was a loud knock and then you could feel the large click either in the pedal or with your foot on the floor of the vehicle. Took it to the dealership and they said that the main suspension bolt on the control arm was gone and that if she took a sharp turn at about 40-50mph it would have come completely off and of course the front left axle would have been a mess. So they replaced the bolt and she was off, about a week later she started hearing and feeling the same problem again, brought it back and the same bolt was missing again, so this time they decided to weld the bolt into the control arm.
Now We haven't heard the noise since, but I just want to know if this has happened to any other Jeep owners. And welding the bolt to a suspension component is that even logical for a dealership to do? I found it odd but it seemed to have fixed it, it was all under warranty but it just didn't seem right to me
