We love our 2015 GC v6 limited EXCEPT for the transmission. When its cold in the morning the shift from 1st to 2nd is extremely hard and actually causes occupants to tip forward and the get shoved back into the seat.
Once the fluid warms up, its perfectly normal....takes about 2 miles.

Took it to the dealer and they could not find anything wrong but there were 4 computer updates thar were applied. One was for the teansmission, and they "hoped" that would fix it.

The next morning it pitched me hard enough that I spilled coffee on my leg....ouch.

I called the dealer and suggested we could leave it over night so they could drive it when cold. I was told I needed to wait until it developed a consistent fault....wtf

Anyone else have this tranny issue?? Did it get fixed??

I have a 2015 with the HEMI V-8. Mine will shift into second a bit harshly the first time. After that it's fine. I'm told they all do this, but the V-6's do it more profoundly, and more often until the fluid sufficiently warms up. But it shouldn't be so bad it moves occupants around in their seats.

To me, it sounds like the fluid level might have been underfilled. The experience you describe is exactly what my Wrangler did when it's fluid was low (due to a leak). When I replaced the leaking seal and refilled it to it's proper level it shifted smoothly -- well as smoothly as a 3 speed can. ;)

PS: Also make sure the dealer applies all the Software flashes for the transmission. There have been some to address shift quality.

Don't you have the Hemi though? It's quite different compared to the Pentastar. If you're not impressed with your transmission then maybe something is wrong with it.

I have a 2015 3.6 Pentastar and experience the same exact 1-2 cold shift. I just live with it. The other issue I have is anything past 79mph it won't use 8th gear. Even if I'm just coasting at say 85mph... And it squeaks loud on hard acceleration shifting from 1-2 2-3. Sounds like shit.

I believe that all 2014 and 2015's have the cold shift issue. They added a transmission fluid heater in 2016 from what I have read. I think that the transmission hardware works on some preset shift configuration when cold and doesn't switch to the adaptive patterns until the transmission warms up to a certain temperature. The 2016 and up warms the fluid faster to cause the adaptive program to work sooner. I don't know if hardware changes were made to change the cold start configuration but maybe that is what is behind some of the valve body replacements. These are just my thoughts/conclusions based on my experience with a 2014 V6 4x4 and what I read. I use the paddle shifter to get around the cold start problem.

I dont have any trans issues on my early build 2014 8spd with the 5.7. It gets to 0 degrees in the winter here sometimes. I have had the updates to my trans which wernt many i think only two on the 8hp70 for 2014. The 5.7 and 8spd combo on my 2014 have been a joy to drive past 3 years.

It gets down to -20F here in the winter. The only issue I ever had with harsh shifting was early on back when I had my 14. That wasn't a cold weather problem. The adaptive relearn took care of it. No problems with the 16 so far and I've had some pretty cold mornings since I got it. I'm in no rush for winter to come back to see if a problem arises on it.
