Re: 2015 WK2 Summit Poor damping

I don't know. Could be the Parts guy at the dealer didn't know what he was doing, but he confirmed the VIN of the HA V8 and told me the front struts were the same. I want to call someone at FCA and talk to an engineer. A $60k rig shouldn't ride like 77 Buick. Anyone out there actually own a HA V8? I doubt the suspension would be the same as the V6 given the huge difference in weight. I have a sinking feeling only people at the factory would know for sure.

hmm well keep in mind it's a 5300lb SUV designed for off road it will never have a road feel like your TSX did. Something like BMW X5 or Audi Q5 are probably better choices if your looking more for the on road types that are slanted more in the handling direction. The 2016 GCs add aluminum suspension parts to drop weight, add more quality tires and add electronic adjustable steering so they will no doubt have a different road feel than the 2014/15s. My 2014 GC V8 summit actually handles a little better than I was expecting for a 5300lb suv once I replaced the forteras and put a decent tire on it. I came from a sports sedan so my expectations of what a heavy off road slanted suv were going to be were pretty low so I'm pretty content with it considering what it is. But everyone has different opinions and expectations I get that.

Re: 2015 WK2 Summit Poor damping

Well gotta say you were right. I think I've finally gotten used to my Summit's handling. Upgrading to the Scorpions helped some, but mostly I got used to it and am enjoying it more for what it is. I may still swap out the rear shocks for those off the HA, and swap the rear sway bar for the SRT, but not much can be done for the front. Overall 18 months and 8000 trouble-free miles later I'm happy with my Jeep.

I came from a Rubicon so my HA is best riding vehicle I have ever been in.

I noticed much improvement in just inflating the Fortera to 46psi which is 5psi less than the max. rated pressure. I've run all kinds of tires on all kinds of vehicles just a few pounds below the max for better fuel economy and crisper handling. I'll give up a little cush for better handling any day.

I'll probably go Scorpions when these are done. Loved them in the past.
