20x10 rims for winter is it a bad idea ?

Hello,

As winter is approaching, I have question.

I had stock 18" rims that came with my Jeep which I sold recently, as I didn't like the 18" rim look at all. ( I know who cares it's winter but I would
Rather 20" set for the winter)

I got a set of 20" SRT wheels for a from a friend but totally forgot they are 20x10.

Will the performance of the winter tires be horrible since the smallest width would be a 275 on that rim?

I would be looking at the Bridgestone and Michelin winters

I've lived and driven in the "snow belt" for most of my life, but you can take this for whatever it's worth....for the ultimate performance in snow, you want the narrowest tire (with the correct diameter, of course), possible, to CUT through the snow, rather than a wide tire that will either get pushed around by the existing tracks in the snow, or just slide over fresh snow.

That's my $0.02, based on driving through the winter, since 1968........

I have a set of 20x10" spider monkeys wrapped in blizzak 285/45/20"s and it absolutely ripped through the snow last 2 winters

I live just outside of Boston and we've seen some 24-30" snowstorms in the past 2 winters ..I couldn't be happier with the performance of this setup

Not to mention that my Jeep is supercharged as well so it makes a good amount of power ..and these tires/rims still do well in putting that power down

You'll be fine with 20x10.
I run a 285.50.20 Blizzak and I've never had an issue.

You will be fine as long as you run the right tire

I just got Nokian hakkapeliitta 7 SUV tire for a amazing deal from a friend. I am confident with that tire it should perform well
