20x9 or 20x10???

Quick question here. I'm looking to see why those of you who went with SRT replica wheels, opted for 20x10 over 20x9. I'm torn between the two options for my Summit and am having a really difficult time researching why someone would pick one over the other. I'm looking at black chrome PVD spider monkeys in 20" or perhaps hyper silver 22" for my ride. Any and all suggestions, advice and commentary is welcomed. I thank you all in advance. I have always been a fan of the "fat" tire when looking at the vehicle from the back. Love the look of BMW X5M and SRT's from the back.

John

Re: 20x9 or 20x10???

With the 20" Spider Monkeys, it's seems to be split down the middle on this forum with half going with one & half going with the other.

They all seem to be going with the 295-45-20 size tire which is the OEM spec for the SRT.

Just search for the size 295-45-20...there is lots of talk about 20x9 vs 20x10.

I've got 22" SRT8 22x10 replicas on 305-35-22's with no issues at all, but be prepared for a lot harder ride & no forgiveness if you ever touch a curb.

Re: 20x9 or 20x10???

I've been debating the same thing and the main difference between x9 and x10 depends on the tires you want. Not all tires are made in the same sizes so, for example, if you're trying to stay as close to stock diameter as possible (to avoid speedo issues, etc.), a BFG KO2 won't fit on a 20x10 rim. They don't recommend anything wider than a 9.5" for a 275/55/20 tire (which is their smallest diameter 20"). If I were you, I'd figure out which tires you want or will be happy with and have that factor into the decision ahead of time.

I'm personally leaning towards getting a 20x10 with a summer tire and then getting dedicated snow tires for my OEM rims. Haven't talked myself into pulling the trigger on anything yet though.
