255/65r 18

Our 11 wk2 4x4 Laredo x needs new tires at 37k the latitudes are to the wear bars. I know it comes with 265/60r18 a 10.5x30.5 tire. But I'm not impressed with the local selection. They keep pushing the wrangler sr-a, not impressed. But there is a destination le I don't mind. The 255/65r18 is a 10.2x31. And I had a set of assurance tripple treads. I had them on a tacoma and really liked them. They were great in the snow and rain.

But I don't want larger tires I just want a decent highway tire that is quiet and not 200 a tire.

Has anyone ran that size or width on a 18? Does it fit ok?

Re: 255/65r 18

I would say that size should fit just fine, considering many here run the 275/65/18's. Which is a 32" tire. The 31 should be fine and very little effect on the speedo. Another one to consider is the continental cross contact lx20. I'm running the michelin ltx ms2, but they are definitely over $200 a tire.

They would for sure fit, but there's no reason to use that size. There are many available in the stock size. Don't limit yourself to local dealers.

The Firestone Destination LE2 come in OE size. Check tirerack and discounttiredirect.com for options and reviews.

Re: 255/65r 18

The Michelin at our warehouse store run $221 per tire us $15 to mount and balance with road hazard. Add tax and it a clean $1000 US for the Michelin MS/2. Only about $30 per tire on the Continental. I looked at Bridgestone but availability is spotty and just as pricy. Really wish there were other decent offers. I've been screwed before on new makes from well known companies on many times. I don't listen to the sales people ever as they just want the highest profit.
