I want to start by saying I have searched and searched and re-read what I could find.
I have just purchased SRT Reps in 20x9 and trying to decide between the two tire sizes. I live in New England and will be putting on something else come Winter so that is not a concern. It seems the 275 will be about 1 1/2 miles per hour slower where as the 285 will be 1 1/2 mph quicker on the speedo.
Will these sizes both be bolt and go or would I need spacers for the 285s? Anything else I should be aware of in deciding between these 2 sizes?
Thanks. I have been following your post, but I am concerned with the 295 on a 9" wide rim. I know the tire manufacturer does not recommend it and have seen posts on other sites stating, "Any reputable tire shop would not put a 295 on a 9" rim."
I have an Overland .. and I put the air ride on its lowest setting all the time with no rubbing problems at all... Uoweduck, put lowering springs on his and also has no rubbing problems. as you can see from the pictures of both posts' that a 295 fits perfectly fine on the rim. /
To also attest to the 295's being perfectly fine on the 20x9 rims, I have had them on my truck for about 6,000 miles now, I travel back and forth from longisland to NJ twice a week and an additional 45 minute drive to and from work everyday.. NJ and NY have some of the worst roads, and the tires have certainly been holding up very well.
I know me and Uoweduck are not the only ones running 295's also.. and so far not a peep from anyone about that size nor hankooks giving them any problems on their JGC.
