Re: 275/55 20 All Terrain Tire Thread

Curious what folks experiences have been with airing down tires on 20 inch wheels for off road use. I'm concerned a bit about the short sidewall being an issue compared to 18 inch wheels. My search-fu hasn't turned up any discussions on this.

28 and 24 on sand. I'd lake to hear some others as well.

Re: 275/55 20 All Terrain Tire Thread

Just got my bilstein 5100s up front set at 1.75" lift and a 3/4" TJ spacer in the rear. Also installed 275-55-20 Cooper AT3s. Drives great!

Mine drived great too! and looks great. I'm running just about the same thing except I have OMEs on back and RRO Trim Packers up front on top of the bilsteins. my back is still up .75" which is alright but I've recently ordered the Icon Coilovers so I should get another .25" or so up front.

Re: 275/55 20 All Terrain Tire Thread

Yeah my back is up about 7/8" or so. Much better than the 1.5" from the factory, I like a little rake in it too. I'll eventually get the bilstein rears. I don't take mine off road too much, just some dirt/gravel so I don't need the droop travel. Just want to get rid of the nivomat rears.

You might want to consider getting the OMEs for the rear bc they make them for the upper mounts that come with the nivomats. If you want to put Bilsteins on your rear, you will have to replace your upper shock mounts with the standard (non-nivomat) shock mounts. If you are going to do that you might want to consider picking this one up for a discounted price, it has only been used a couple weeks before I got the OMEs bc they are longer and will give more wheel travel:

Bilstein 5100 Rear Shock 11 16 Grand Cherokee WK2 24 225441 | eBay

To the credit of Bilstein, they do ride better than the OMEs in my opinion but the OMEs have more dampening and ride stiffer which is a good thing for me since I don't have sway bars on. I could also sell you my RRO trim packers in a couple weeks when I put my Icon Coilovers on bc I won't need them any more.

You will also have to change the springs if you get rid of the nivomat. They have softer springs and the rear will drop without having the nivomat shocks to go with them. The other option is to keep the nivomat shocks and use standard springs. The rear will go up a little higher. No full report on how much exactly. On guy said his rear dropped 3/4" when he used the 5100's. Not sure is it would be more drop with stock shocks. Another guy said his rear was almost 2" higher when he used the nivomat shock and a bilstein spring. Again not sure what a stock spring would do. Maybe a little less.

You said Bilstein makes rear springs for the WK2, are you sure of this? I haven't heard this before.

Another option for him would be to keep his springs and throw some tj spacers on there if he looses too much ride height.

Re: 275/55 20 All Terrain Tire Thread

Might have been the stock spring he used with the nivomat. I've read tons of posts and at the point where it's hard to Keep up. He might have eventually moved to a lift spring. I definitely now that mixing the springs and shocks create either a drop or a lift

Just for comparison I parked behind a stock grand Cherokee the other day, I have RRO Level kit and daystar 3/4" TJ spacers in the rear, stock wheels with BFG ko2's 275/55r20
