Talking 275-55-20 BFG T/A KO2 on stock rims

So, I finally made it over to the local Discount Tire today, and purchased a set of 4 BFG T/A KO2's in 275-55-20. The stock Fortera's were mostly bald at 42,000 miles... but oh well. I wanted a different look anyway.

What caught me a little weird was that the tire techs and bosses were all sweating bullets prior to installing them, that it "wouldn't fit in the wheelwell" and "could rip my bumper off if I'm wrong".

I've seen many Overland QL jeeps here fit this sized tire with no claimed rubbing or malfunction, and kindly asked them to put them on anyway. They finally did, and whaddya know, they seem to work fine and are pretty damn quiet on the highway so far. Will update as the tires wear.

Nice... Love that red on black. Same tires as you and I've run them through the paces with no issues. I also have a llamas "lift" that can actually lower the quadalift to below stock and still no issues. Enjoy your new tires.

Damn....those tires look good! They sure fill up the wheel wells nicely.

No lift of any kind installed....right?

What QL height is that pic taken at?

The BFGs would be my preferred tire...but, it looks like I'll be having a Goodyear credit for the OEM Forteras...so the Duratracs in that same 275/55r20...so should look quite similar.

No lift, and this was at Off-road level 1, which I tend to find myself riding around town at this level more and more. I'll get some better pictures shortly at different levels. So far, loving the tires.

I owned the first gen KO's and I had no road noise. How is the handling difference with them and how is the road noise. They look really sick Real meaty.

Got to test them out on the highway pretty extensively today. I can say they definitely feel a tiny bit less connected with the road than the Forteras did, but in the bumps and potholes, that's a good thing.

They ride with more cushion, but also much more grip. When you turn the wheel, its more responsive but slightly heavier. It glides less, but once you get used to them? They make the vehicle feel almost invincible.

Can't wait for snow.

The only road noise I notice is around 40-55 mph there's a slight hum, but it sounds like an off-road tire at those speeds, so its not a bad thing IMO. At highway speeds and in town? They're quiet.

Re: 275-55-20 BFG T/A KO2 on stock rims

Nice tires, Jmarcher. I'm still on my stock Forteras at 22K but when they wear out will go with a beefier tire, maybe like yours. And I too find myself driving around town at ORA-1 more and more.

I like the look of these 20" wheels. And the Forteras have taken me on some fairly gnarly obstacles and trails, so they're fair.

I'm interested in your updates as the tires wear, so, bring 'em on. Thanks.

Love the way it looks! Those tires are amazing from what ive been hearing and reading. In the process to get my GC new tires now, so these BFGs in the 275/55-20 should fit on a 2014 model right?

Thanks!

Alexandru

Thanks man! To my knowledge yes they will fit. Assuming you have QL or no?

Took them on a mostly highway trip to northern Michigan last week, about 10 hours each way.
They handled the drive beautifully and the little bit of mud when we got there too. Best purchase I've made for the vehicle.
