I got my new cooper LTZ's installed today. However the rear is rubbing big time on the rear felt liners. I have not heard anyone else seeing this. Any ideas?
Not what I wanted to hear, since I'm getting ready to this. Sorry to hear that. I wonder if year to year '11-'14 the felt liners are slightly different in thickness. Many of the jeeps I've been following here who have gone to the larger set have been '11-'12 model years.
Is that the only area that rubs? Sounds like a spacer would help, but hopefully someone else will chime in who had the same issue. How is the clearance in the front without the leveling kit?
EDIT: CityCrawler has a 2013 with the 275 Zeons, He has the level kit in the front and spacers on, but I think he had the Zeons, put on before the spacers. Not sure if you saw this thread:
Yes I made my decision based on his thread. It only needs a very small amount to not run.
The leveling kit went on yesterday. It rode great with the lift. Had to adjust the headlights but not a big deal.
There shouldn't be any change in the suspension setup. The suspension setup is the same across the board. Interested to see pictures to see what he's talking about.
Looking at the dimensions, the 285s give more breathing room with the fender the only issue is how close does the width bring you to the stud/ball joint stud, is that correct?
Interesting. I just looked at mine and it's close like the control arm bolt but no rub. The only explanation is the mold is off a bit for the liner when it was casted.
I had this issue as well with my 2014 Overland with the 275/55-20.......
It also was rear left. I put my hand I. There and realized the liner was not attached in the upper corner. The dealer replaced the liner and all is well!
The rear passenger tire was rubbing on the liner. That is the grove cut into the liner. It sat 1/2-3/4" away from the metal. I cut out that section and it was gone. Not a major issue, but I didn't want it cause an issue down the line. No impact to anything really. Someone else got a new liner but they have a competent service department. Mine would say, it was due to me putting bigger tires on. Not a defect in the liner.
OK thanks for the explanation. Now I see, I didn't see it at first. If you get a chance and you want to, post a pic of a full shot from the sides. thanks!
