285/50 vs 275/55 comfort difference?

Ive spent at least 20 hours researching tires over the past couple weeks. I've finally decided on the Cooper zeon Ltz's. (KO2's and Nitto Terra G's runners up). Now the dilemma is what size to get. The 285/50/20's have a real mean street look. Nice fat contact patch. The 275/55's lean more towards that oversized rugged truck look. 8 hours later I can't decide on these now. My head hurts. I know that going to any of these types of tires, ride comfort will take a small hit. But is there an additional difference between the 50 vs 55 in comfort? Anyone by chance try both aspect ratio's on the same tire? Common sense would say that shorter sidewall=firmer ride. I was kind of hoping someone would say they couldn't tell the difference. And yes, as of now, I'm leaning towards the 285's... That will probably change again in an hour. Thanks to everyone on here for sharing your photos. Definitely pointed me in the right direction.

I can't comment on the specific question since I run OEM size and am happy, but I will mention (as I always do) that if you upsize your tires, you also need to change your spare to one of the same exact diameter.... ;)

It's probably going to be hard to get someone that has had really driving experience with each size on the same vehicle.

I honestly don't think you are going to notice much of a difference in ride quality. I would go with the look that you like better.

As far as "shorter sidewall=firmer ride" these tires have a lot harder sidewall. I don't like a shorter sidewall in a K02 would make much of a difference.

I figured it would be a long shot. But you never know! And yes, I am at the point now where I am going with my initial instinct. I've already wasted too much time.

Thanks for the heads up Deadserial. Hope I have better luck than you did.

I have 275-55-20 Cooper AT3 and they only negative thing is that these wheels are really hard to get a good balance on. I've spent tons of time and money getting them balanced, road forced, and finally "trued" and then balanced while mounted on the vehicle and that one finally did the trick. I think the issue is when people mount them to the spin balanced they don't get a perfect mount and it throws off the balance a little. Mine got worse after wheel spacers, which is natural.

Ah that's crushing MOFSTEEL. It was your build thread that made me want the Zeons in the first place. I live in PA so..... I'll give the Grappler's and KO2's a another look. Thanks for saving me a major headache.
