8.5" wheel width on a 12.5" tire; a little narrow aincha? Spec calls for 9.5-10.5" You definitely not gonna scrub your wheel on a curb. Concerns?

*** This is a great question, thanks for asking.

Worked for Discount Tire stores, and Direct for many years. Lots of experience here. Recommended, is just that. Doesnt mean you cant go out of spec. The recommended wheel width.. Its an ideal size, for perfect fitment and wear characteristics. And not one size fits all. Going wider tire/skinnier wheel is a very common practice, especially in the big sidewall 4x4 world. You can definitely go outside of spec, to a point. This would be the farthest I would go. Properly aired, my tire has a great footprint. I would have a bigger contact patch, if I had a wider wheel, thats certain...but not much.

At this size, I am not stretching anything too far as far as the bead goes, the sidewall bubble is appropriate, and the wear should be ok as long as I watch it and rotate as scheduled.

Would I put a 315/30-18 corvette tire on a 8.5" wheel....no. Am I ok with a 33x12.50 on a 8.5 wheel, absolutely.

Hey alludc, what's your impression of the Atturo Trail Blade tire brand?

I have a friend who is looking for a set of mud tires & the Atturo Trail Blade MT is very competitively priced & super aggressive looking in the MT.

No worries MidSouth. It's also not as extreme as you may think.

Re: 33x12.50 no rub. So Sexy.

Niel, so far so good!

I have a friend with MTs on his Wrangler and hes been very impressed so far. hes about 6-7 months in. I only have 100-150 miles so far on the XT.... and even though I went big/heavy/LT...the ride quality hasnt changed much. Not terribly louder than the Nitto Terra Grapplers I had (but they are more aggressive so I expected they would be) and they look insane.

They also balanced surprisingly well for a heavy tire!

A set of rock rails might really tie those tires n rims together.

Ehhh, I'm thinking some fender flares would be a better addition at this point.

With our only option as Bushwacker Fender Flares I vote pass as they look horrible

If ANYONE made a smooth fender flare like on all the WK2 Concept Vehicles I would say yeah

I looked high and low for smooth but couldn't find any. The bushwackers end up ok when you paint them, but they would not have been my choice if given other options. Take a look in my garage to see the painted version.
