4x2 with self leveling rear suspension....??

Can some one tell me how this works? I want to lower mine but the Eibach springs are not compatible with the self leveling option. Can I just swap out the rear shock with no ill effects?

I don't plan to tow anything very heavy or very often......beside the Eibach springs have a higher spring rate.

Thanks

If they aren't compatible and you want to do it then you'll have to replace the shock. The self leveling shock is a stand alone unit, its just the shock, no other components involved. Its a Nivomat shock made by ZF Sachs.

Re: 4x2 with self leveling rear suspension....??

Just wanted to add to this.....just found out the hard way that you also need to replace the upper shock mount. @$26 bucks each it's no big deal but my dealer didn't have them and none of the surrounding dealers had them either. So I'm forced to run around for a couple of days with the self leveling shocks on the lowering springs. The front is nice and low but the back is only about a .5" lower than it was.....looks a little silly right now. Most people won't even notice but it looks funny to me. The ride is nice....about the same as stock but just a little tighter. Once I get the rear down level with the front I'll be really happy!

I was chatting with a mechanic yesterday and he mentioned most of the self leveling systems use a "marker" that sets the height. I'm sure he's referring to vehicles with airbags but was curious if our GC's had something similar we could modify to level the rear.....
