They don't list a front adapter plate.

So the total upgrade for a WK would run you $2,884.40 before shipping.
Excellent post - thanks. Maybe I'll run into you in Fairfax.

One other consideration is clearance for the calipers. I'd think spacers or new wheels would be necessary.

first of all...dont pay those prices. OEM Brembo parts are expensive. Buy the entire set of R1 rotors for less than $300, all stoptech pads for $120. Im making caliper brackets...so the rear adapter plates and front spindles will not be needed. The calipers can be had used on ebay etc. for anywhere between $300 and $650 for an entire set already loaded. I paid $400 for my entire set. Theres an entire set loaded on ebay right now for $644. BUT...I have ordered the new 2012 HUGE front calipers from justforjeeps just today and they are around $300 each. They are curently on backorder...so it will be a couple weeks according to Peter.

As for spirited driving, to be honest I have not done anything like that except get on it a few times.
Do you think there will be any wheel firmest issues with the non-SRT wheels? From looking at them it appears they would be different offsets.

James
I think theyll look sick on my durango in red....maybe thats just me though?
No idea on the nonSRt wheels for the wk2....thats somehting owners will have to think about.

Very interested..... Whats your plan?

Are you looking to have custom adapter brackets machined to bolt up to the OEM front/rear knuckles/spindles that will accomodate the OEM WK2 Brembos?? What stock will you used for the adapter brackets, steel or aluminum? Finish.... paint? Powder coat?
How would these brackets also work with the Gen 1 WK SRT brembo calipers? Aren't they smaller??

What about wheels and clearance issues? Can this work with the WK2 OEM 5 spoke 20" aluminum wheels or will the WK2 SRT8 OEM wheels be required to clear the very large WK2 brembos calipers?

Thanks for your reply.

How can they look goofy.....Brembos are well known.
What's goofy is just painting the calipers red.

The prices I listed came from JustforJeeps. I didn't know if this is one of those forums where you can't mention vendor names. I know you can get some of the stuff cheaper...CTS-V rear brake pads instead of factory, R1 rotors, etc. but I figured the vendor prices would give people a rough idea of what the full upgrade can cost.

Man, did I type my original post wrong or something? All I said was RED brembo's might look odd. Just the color red thats all. I love Brembo brakes in general, but red calipers work on only certain cars is my point. Can you imagine a mineral grey overland wtih saddle interior and red brake calipers? LOL see my point? Sure, maybe certain colors it might work, but overall if you have a Overland, red brake calipers would look incredibly out of place. If they were black then it would probably look bad ass. So again, to clarify, on the higher end luxury models with chrome, wood interiors etc etc red just wont work...sorry. Paint them gloss black like they some on some cars then I would be all for it.

James

not sure what theyll use to produce them...but the shop i spoke with said they have done them many times for race cars etc. Powdercoated will probably be the finsih of choice.
As far as the wheels...that will be up to the owner. the bonus is this....the wk2 SRT brembos and the wk1 SRT brembos have the same bolt spacing....even though the 2012 front calipers are larger. No idea on the wheels yet guys.....PATIENCE

Re: GAUGING interest in adding SRT8 Brembos to your wk2?

Can anyone comment about the compatability of the SRT calipers with the existing 5.7's brake system? Namely, would I need anything other than calipers, pads, and brackets?

Absolutely, but it's been awhile. I used to attend often with my previous car.

They will probably use 6061 Aluminum. The best bet for protecting the aluminum would be to annodize it.

Since the WK1 and WK2 SRT8 Brembos have the same bolt pattern will placing the WK2 Brembos on a WK1 allow for an even larger rotor?

that would be my guess too Escape...but I didnt want to speak to that yet.

Yes...if a current SRT upgrades to the new calipers....they will need the larger rotors
