Thumbs up AEV JK Pintlers on WK2 are a reality

ALCON,

I did a lot of searching around and did not find anything definitive on whether or not someone had successfully mounted AEV wheels on a WK2. I have seen the photo like everyone else of the Blue WK2 with Savegres, so I figured it couldn't be too difficult. To make a long story short, they do work, I am putting them on my 2012 WK2 Laredo Hemi with tow package. (no spacers!!!) I'll have pics at the end of the week. Just did test fitting today. Will be running 275/70 R17 BFG A/T KO2 as the tire. RRO lift installed. Here's what you need to know:

1. Trim package/tow/motor not so much the issue.

2. MUST have the BRY brakes regardless of motor/tow/trim. This is the deciding factor. You can have the service department of your local dealer run your VIN to make sure, but it's easier to just check and see if you have vented rear rotors. That's a sign of the HD brakes which will require at least 18" rims or large spacers to clear calipers. You could also "downgrade" your brakes to the BRY setup with proper rotors and caliper brackets. There are a couple threads here which describe the differences between the brake packages.

3. WK2 studs are larger than JK for which the Pintlers were designed. The Pintlers themselves will clear the studs and seat properly on the hub hat. You will need to obtain aftermarket lug nuts, however. The OEM nuts are much too large to clear the access holes in the Pintlers. I went to a local aftermarket wheel supplier and got the "splined" lug nuts. These have a narrower body and use a key socket to install. This will clear the very tight lug nut openings in the Pintlers.

The Pintlers have a +10mm offset, so they will be fine with larger tires and won't noticeably effect turning radius. If you use spacers, you will increase your turning radius and cause rubbing issues with your tires much easier than with a more limited positive offset from wheels alone.

As I mentioned I will post pics later in the week and report on how it all works after putting some miles on the rubber.

Cheers!

Pics of Pintlers fitted as promised. Hopefully attached to post.... Confirmed no rubbing at this size tire. Probably could have gone up to the 285/70 17 on the Pintlers, but would be cutting it real close.
