AEV Wheels

Does anyone know for fact if the AEV 17" Pintler WK/JK wheels will fit a WK2? Caliper clearance and offset. I hope to one day get a WK2 and I want Argent Pintler wheels. Unlike most I'm not a fan of 18s and 20s mostly due to lack of stock size tire choices (all terrain) and tire cost.

Not to mention I love the AEV Pintler wheels. Does anyone know of anyone with pics or who has put them on a wk2?

Re: AEV Wheels

Here is a photo of a WK2 on the Saverge wheels. These have the same dimensions as the AEV Pintlers for the JK so it should give you an idea...

Re: AEV Wheels

Yes it would, I HATE the saverge wheels, I think they are ugly as hell but I've always loved the pintler wheels and the 16" bridger wheels (discontinued). Not that I'm getting a wk2 I just want to see pintler wheels on a stock wk2. I hope to one day get some for my wk.

Re: AEV Wheels

On a WK2 with a hemi you get bigger break calipers and 17 will not fit the front

Re: AEV Wheels

Pintlers work excellently.

There is misinformation out there that I should probably qualify.
1. Brake clearance: engine and trim package is NOT the qualifier for what brakes you have. Mine is a Hemi Laredo X with the BRY brake package (this is the "non-HD" package). You can't blanket statement "it has a Hemi, so you have xxx brakes" US WK2s came with three different brake packages depending on many variables. You simply have to look at your rear rotors and see if they are vented. Solid means BRY and vented means BR6. If you have the BRY brakes, you can run 17" wheels. Anything else, 18s minimum.

2. Backspacing, load ratings, etc. on WK2/Pinter combo: All Pintlers currently on the market are manufactured in China for the JK specifically. There was a small run of them designed for the WK1, but they are unicorns on the second hand market. The JK Pintlers are not load rated for a WK2 at full GVW, especially if you run larger tires. The backspacing and offset and resulting scrub radius when installing Pintlers on a WK2 is acceptable in my opinion. Adding wheel spacers to Rubicon or aftermarket wheels is just not a good idea on many levels although many people do it. The current generation of Pintlers being sold retail (the ones with "AEV" cast into a spoke) have a higher load rating and will accommodate OEM lug nuts. They are a better choice all around (except that they don't come in Argent color anymore. :-(

My WK2 pictured here has a 2.5" lift, Pintlers with 275/70 R17 BFGs. Very minor felt rubbing during heavy trail driving on class 7 trails.

Those wheels were originally made by an Australian manufacturer I believe for AEV. Back in the day they made them in the 5X5 lug pattern for JK's and also in a 5X5 lug pattern with the proper offset for a WJ Grand Cherokee. That Pintler design was also an aftermarket choice for some GM Camaros and some Porches as well! Now like everything else they're made in China.

These wheels will bolt up to any Jeep that has a 5X5 lug pattern including WJ's, JK's, WK's & WK2's but being that they are only 17" wheels they will not clear the calipers on most WK2's nor do they have the proper offset or load rating for a WK2 as well. The HD brakes on virtually all WK2 trims just won't work with the Pintlers! If you have rear rotors that are ventilated you have factory HD brakes as stated by the poster above these wheels will not clear your calipers!
