Aftermarket Shock info

I've been doing some research on replacement shocks for the WK2 and figured I would share. I had to contact OME/ARB and Dobinson to get the shock specs as I couldn't find them online. Ultimately, my search was to determine if the Bilstein 5100s could be used with aftermarket springs in the rear as Bilstein states that they are only for up to 1 inch of lift.

Bilstein 5100 Part number 24-225441 Collapsed Length 407mm Extended Length 572.5mm

OME/ARB NitroCharger Part number 60124 Collapsed 415mm Extended 585mm

Dobinson Heavy Duty Twin Tube Part number GS29-731 Collapsed 414mm Extended 554mm

With this info I believe that the Bilstein 5100 series could definitely be used in place of the OME/Dobinson shocks if desired. I was actually surprised to see that the Bilstein's are both shorter when compressed and longer when extended than the Dobinsons. I'm currently looking at the Dobinson rear coils with the Bilstein 5100 shocks to match up with the 5100 series struts I'm running up front.
