Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

Discount Tire had them in 2 days after order. They look promising on first blush, I'll have some mixed alpine driving this weekend with snow, wet, and towing.

Nittos look to earn their M&S rating, the siping is not nearly as aggressive as say the Blizzaks or other winter tread, but looks similar to my AT's.

Firestone Destination AT's tread for comparison

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

About 800 miles on mine, but no wet weather yet. Nothing new to report except that they seem to be the type that have that "flat spot" feel after parked for a few days. After a couple miles they smooth out.

Great dry traction and stability, provides high confidence on those turns. They seem to have about the same amount of balance weights on them as the OEM GYs

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

Thanks for the update, CC...I was just going to ask you myself as I have an appointment to get my "earl-changed" on Friday and plan on asking my service provider for a price on the NT421Qs.

Any of you others with these tires have update comments?

I love mine. Quiet, not harsh. Traction is great dry or wet. Mine have about 3K-miles on them.

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

Well it's been raining around here off and on for months. With roughly just over 1000 miles on these. I have driven in both the dry and the wet and there is no difference in feeling of confidence with these tire. I initially was running 35 psi in all four wheels but now they have broken in a little I have gone up to the recommended 36 psi.

I am not the primary driver of the 2011 I do take it every so often to make sure the tires are properly inflated and what not.

I have noticed some tramlining when underinflated.

No complaints from the other drivers.

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

Thanks so much guys! Im still trying to decide between these, the Cooper AT3, Nitto Terra Grapplers and The Firestone ATs or LE2. So many options and seems like all have positives and negatives.

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

Correct, they will handle light snow just fine which would more than serve my purpose for where I live. For folks who get a lot of snow, there are likely better choices, of course.

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

When I had my beauty in for an "earl-change" and rotation today, my service dude tried to get a price on the NT421Q for me and wasn't successful with any of his four suppliers. But he was amicable for me to buy them and he just do the install. It seems like Discount Tire is the only outfit that has them currently...

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

Thus far, I am giving these a thumbs up for highway, rain, heavy towing, and moderate snow. Quiet and stable. It was 0 degrees F this morning with snow and ice pack on the pass, no issues here though there were 5 other rigs that had skidded off the road. Still waiting for deep snow and will update then, though will switch to AT's for ski season.

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

I can second the thumbs up. I drove in the rain for the first time Friday and these tires are just as confidence inspiring on wet roads as they are on the dry. Seem to be an excellent tire. They do "buzz" a bit 40-60mph in the wet, otherwise just as quiet as the OEMs. They don't seem to "buzz" as much as other all season tires I've used on other vehicles, however.
