Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

It's one year old now and very happy about the NITTO 421Q.

I just went into ~ 800 miles round trip, those tires are nice but noticed the sound is a little bit increased. I think the sound will not be noticeable by everyone (in my opinion).

I drove 12-14k miles on them till the moment.

About the same mileage for me, Omar. Still very happy.

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

Just over 43k miles on mine and they are done. In spite of routine rotation and balancing one is worn down to the bars and the others are uniformly work to just over the wear bars. Yesterday I drove 90 miles in the rain, heavy at times, and I had to slow down considerably to keep from hydroplaning. Disappointed in this, as they are supposed to last 75k miles. These didn't get to 60% of that.

NTB has a sale going on now with the OE brand/ model tires and those lasted just over 50K so I'm going back to those. The set is over $400 less than I paid for the Nittos.

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

I'm also noticing more wear than I expected from the NT421Qs at 24K miles on them. I'll likely need to replace the end of next summer if my mental estimate holds. I really like the tires in many ways, but...

I actually have sent a message to Nitto to get their feedback on my disappointment relative to tread life.

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

I'm two weeks into my replacement of the Nittos, back to the OE Goodyear Forteras. I had them done at NTB and they did an alignment at the same time, finding my left front toe off slightly. That explains that tire worn more than the others, but still the other three did not have 32k miles left on them- not even close.

I like the Goodyears better than the Nittos. They are quieter, and don't develop flat spots after sitting a day or so in the cold.

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

Well the Nittos on my 2011 in the initial post are finally done.

At roughly 24,000 island miles on paved and unpaved roads they are at the wear bars.

I am pleased with what I got out of them.

I would buy another set just based on the price and performance but leaving the vehicle parked 4 days or more produces flats spots.

I would say these are a budget alternative to the Continental cross contact UHP .

I have a set of Pirelli Scorpion Verde plus on the way and took advantage of $200 off with ebay coupons that basically make them cost what I paid for the set of Nittos back 2013.

I have a SET of NITTOS on my 2012 and a month ago I lost one tire where the tread cracked and the steel belt is broken.

I bought another tire and waiting for it to arrive.

I am on my third set of OE Goodyears. The original set lasted 2X longer than the ones I bought as replacements . I have no complaints (out side of the inconsistent life expectancy)

Re: ALL NEW NITTO NT421Q in 265/50 VR 20

With a high performance tire tread life is never high.

Mine are down to the wear bars too, I am looking at the Pirelli Scorpion Verde. I'm hoping to find some on sale.... I was able to get a set last year for the 2011 for under $640 from Home - Discount Tire Direct now they are over $800.

They are much lighter and ride better than the Nittos.

Another tire to consider is the Cooper Discoverer SRX. 12,000 miles on ours and very pleased. Cooper Tire & Rubber Company - Discoverer SRX™
