Another summit wheel question...sorry

Hey guys....my first post here.... Couple of questions if anyone has the answer it would be much appreciated....I'm getting a new diesel summit tomorrow to tow a boat and I'm not really into the stock wheels...my question is would u guys trust aftermarket wheels (not forged) in a 22" or should I stick with 20's and get some Oem srt wheels which I think are also cast but I assume are of a higher quality than the xo tokyo's I'm considering.....also not even sure if the srt wheels will fit a summit....this forum has been very helpful...thanks in advance
Bob

Re: Another summit wheel question...sorry

Any of the SRT style wheels are compatible on the Summit. No fitment issues whatsoever. They work great, however they are big and heavy wheels. VERY heavy and you will feel the difference when driving. Fuel economy would suffer slightly as well. It's all personal preference, but I'm not a fan of most aftermarket wheels. If I was changing the wheels on my Summit I would keep it OEM and find another set of Grand Cherokee wheels that you like and slap them on. Do you like the regular Overland 5 spoke 20's?

I do like them but my wife really wants black wheels and doesn't particularly like overland wheels in black....would u trust an aftermarket wheel towing a 5000 lb boat?

Lol... My wife's nuts... She did.. But she also liked the interior of the summit.... And the stance of a srt.... And the fuel economy of the diesel...and pretty much something from each model!

Re: Another summit wheel question...sorry

What about black chrome? SRT offers two style wheels both offered in black chrome. The 5 spoke goliaths and split spoke spider monkeys.
I had a set of new takeoff goliaths that I tried on my Summit. They for sure look mean, but for me to properly pull that off I had a LOT of de-chroming to do and at the time I just wasn't up for doing that much work to the car.
Here is a picture of my Summit with black chrome SRT goliaths. Now that they released the High Altitude, if I had these wheels still and went with all black chrome parts from the HA, this Summit would be insane looking IMO!

That's good to know. I have a quick question. One of my buddy owns a garage that does a lot of mods for Titan Motorsports and Hennessey and always have different OEM parts lying around from owners who don't really care to hang on to them. I saw a set of older black JGC SRT8 wheels in pristine condition. I know I can pick them up for a good price. I might be able to use them for another set for winter. Would they fit as well and worth getting? Thanks.

Yes I believe they will bolt on no problem. Infact if you do some searching you will see it's actually a fairly popular mod of putting the older SRT8 wheels on newer Grand Cherokees.

Ill chime in that the oem 20s are weak and bend easy. I bent 2 on seperate ocassions in 1 year. These two rims are the only ones i have bent in 30 years of driving. They are also expensive
