Another Tire Thread - 265/50r20

So I read a lot of the tire threads on here and also spent a lot of time researching on other sites. I need to tires, and don't know what to get. I originally decided to go with the Cooper Zions, but they do not come in the OEM size. I was going to get them anyway, but te guys at my local goodyear shop told me that they "strongly advise against sizing". So now I am the hunt for tires again. What I am looking for:

1. 265/50r20 size
2. I use the truck for my commute which is about 45 min of stop and go / highway driving.
3. My gas mileage is bad enough (10 MPG on commute) so I really don't want it to me much worse.
4. I rarely go off road. For me off road is driving on unpaved roads a few times a year and driving on the beach a few times a year.
5. A good all-season tire - I live on DC and NY (50/50). It doesn't snow enough to get a dedicated snow tire, but I want to have decent traction on my snowboarding trips and any snowey commutes.

There are so few choices in the OEM size. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Re: Another Tire Thread - 265/50r20

If you were considering the Zeons, The Nitto Grappler is very similar and available in 265/50/20. I'm considering them but have read mixed reviews with the folks that went with the orig oem size due to the 50 series and being a much harder tire. I think the 275/55 size helps with this, but then we have the spedometer/odometer variance to deal with.

I'm running Falken Ziex ST/Z 04s and they might be worth your consideration. I've only put around 500 miles on them but I like them. Good compromise ride and handling.

I bought mine at America's Tire. They don't list them on their web site for my zip code but it was no problem to get them.

Do you have any pics with them mounted on your jeep and how do they compare to the Stock GY 20" ?

Re: Another Tire Thread - 265/50r20

I use the COOPER AT3 Discoverer and have no issues, 275-55-20. no rubbing, work well, quiet, handle well in rain. look so much better than the OE size.

Re: Another Tire Thread - 265/50r20

Anyone here running the Yokahama Geolander ATS in a 275/55/20? I'm really leaning towards this tire as it doesn't appear as agressive as the zeon, grapplers, and AT3 while still providing enough(for my purposes) off pavement traction. They have great reviews and seem to be very quiet and long lasting.

I may pick up a set of 18" wheels and go with the OEM size or maybe stick with my 20" and go up to the 275/55, although I'd much prefer to stay with the oem size.

Curious if anybody is running the 275/55/20 and if so, do you have any pics? Below is another member that posted this tire mounted on the 18" wheel.

Thanks!

Since I had my Ram 1500 w/20's, I've used the Yokos and they are awesome! That's the ones I'll be putting on mine when the time comes!

Re: Another Tire Thread - 265/50r20

I have decided to go with this tire, but can't decide if I want to drop down to the 18" wheel or stick with the 20 and go up a tire size. These tires seem to be the perfect blend of an agressive but yet still nice for a lot of hwy miles.

I just put my order in for LTX MS2 in the 275/50r20 size. Can't wait!
