Another Wheel Fit Question

Many have suggested 18 inch wheels from Wranglers etc.for cheap winter wheels as there are a lot on E-Bay etc. My question is this, most that I have seen in 18 inch (Sahara/Rubicon late model) are the correct bolt pattern but are only 7.5 inches wide with an offset of 44mm. My Limited came with 8 inch wide and the 56 mm offset I believe. Is this slight difference not an issue on the Grand Cherokee. The Durango's are exactly the same but not as many for sale. Thanks a lot, Dave

Re: Another Wheel Fit Question

Yes they will fit it's been done to a few wk2s. The only thing is that you might need spacers, and they could stick out a bit.

Here's a thread about your question with a few pics of wk2s with 18s

Wrangler 17" and 18" wheels?

Re: Another Wheel Fit Question

Thanks MoPar King! I guess the half inch difference in wheel width does not matter and the offset difference ins minimal. Dave

Re: Another Wheel Fit Question

I would recommend that you test fit the Wrangler rims first before buying.
I've seen a couple of GC's on here but owners didn't say if they had the QL suspension, or if they are running spacers.

I tried the '14 Rubi 17x7.5 rim on my '13 GC Trailhawk, w/QL and the rim hit the outside face of the front caliper. The Trailhawk rims are 18x8x56.4mm. I'm choosing to not run spacers.

Also the '14 Sahara rim is 18x7.5 but the offset is the same as the Rubi at 44.5mm.

Re: Another Wheel Fit Question

Hey XJ; thank you for that. Boy, I guess I do have to "try" before I buy if there is a possibility of hitting the calipers. I hate to spend the money but may have to just get the "Black Off Road" types that Jeep/Mopar has at $215.00 a copy! Arrrghhhh! Was hoping for a set of used for 4 or 5 hundred!! Dave

Re: Another Wheel Fit Question

Last week I just picked up an extra set of four '11-GC wheels with center caps (no tpms sensors) for $225.00 for my '13 GC Trailhawk. The flat, wide, five blade type in light silver. Actually, the same wheel just different color. They're getting powder coated, pick them up next week. I'll be running Goodyear DuraTrac LT275/65/18's on the new rims.

Don't really care for the after-market rims, plus almost all are 9" wide. Look around, seems to be more "stock" wheels showing up as people move to the 20's for their "mall crawlers". Would rather have a little more tire than rim anyway since the "Hawk" will be going off road.

The casting numbers on the inside of the 18x8 rim is:
1Hx65TRMAB - POL
1RV66TRMAA - PNT
18x8x56.4

Hey XJ: I found a set last nite off a 2013 GC (18 inch) that I will go see/buy this saturday, price is right. Question: Is the casting number the same as the part number? It is different than the Hollander number I guess? Want to have numbers of all the 18 inch wheels that were offered in 2013 so I can check these when I meet with the guy. Thanks, Dave

Re: Another Wheel Fit Question

HI Dave,

Take a look at this Ebay add (not mine) and look at the pic that shows the casting numbers.

18" by 8" Silver Painted Jeep Grand Cherokee Wheel Rim Cap 2011 2012 9105 | eBay

This wheel is exactly like the 4 I just picked up. My '13 Hawk 5 spoke wheels have the same casting numbers but are dark metallic gray in color.

Unfortunately, I don't have the Jeep/Mopar part number and the "official" MOPAR.COM site pretty much sucks. When I try and look up wheels for the '13 GC's I could only find two. First was the aluminum 18" Rugged Off-road wheel, Part #82212154. The second wheel was the aluminum 18" 10-spoke, dark gray with the Jeep logo on one spoke, Part #82212286.

From what I can tell casting number(s) and Part numbers are not the same. As for the Hollander numbers, I believe that is a part numbering system used by auto recyclers.

Hope that helps.

Post a pic of what your thinking about getting.

Hi XJ: Fantastic reference, now I know what to look for, I expect them to be the 5 blade painted, will see them Saturday and hopefully bring them home. Did not realize the size was stamped also; that takes the worry out. Will let ya know how I make out, Thanks again! Dave PS: What color are you getting yours powder coated, pictures when they are done?

Re: Another Wheel Fit Question

Dave,

Just picked them up this afternoon. Went with "Satin Black", kinda keeping with the satin/matte black theme of the hood stripe. Thought about gloss black but when the Hawk goes off-road that high luster finish is going to turn to "Satin" anyway!

Get the new Goodyear DuraTrac 275/65/18's installed tomorrow!

PS - Now if you want to get rid of your "tube rock rails", I'll trade ya for the flush kind that come on the Trailhawks.
