AWD / 4x4 help please!!

Just bought a 2012 jeep grand cherokee loredo. The sales rep says it's AWD and the car fax says 4WD. There is no emblem on the back of my jeep saying 4x4 loredo like I've seen on every single other jeep out there. My guess is that I have QT 1 because I don't have the Knob in the center console. Can I've tried finding ways to identify if I have QT1 but was t sure if I was actually looking at the t-case. Can someone help me find a way to identify if I have an AWD LOREDO, and if the only suggestion is to identify the t-case, the. Can someone help me out with a pic of the actual 2012 t-case.

Re: AWD / 4x4 help please!!

If you do not have a 4 x 4 emblem on the left side of the tailgate, either someone removed it or you have a 4 x 2 Laredo. Not all GC's are 4 x 4. If the console does not have a knob behind the shift lever (has the storage tray instead), it is either a Q1 if 4 x 4 or it is a 4 x 2. And yes, all GC's with 4 x 4 are 4WD, not AWD (although some "purists" might argue that Q1 is AWD, but they would be incorrect). Best luck.

Mine has QT1 and has 4x4 badge on it (bought it new).
Sounds like someone just debadged yours, but look up under and make sure there's a front diff under there.
If they said was AWD and it's 2WD, take it back.

Re: AWD / 4x4 help please!!

Or you can take a picture underneath the front and center of your jeep. We'll take a look as best we can and direct you further. Or you could just decode your vin.

Re: AWD / 4x4 help please!!

easiest way is to just look at the VIN if the 5th digit is an R then you have a 4WD
Ex: my vin is 1J4RR6GTXXXXXXXXX indicating i have a 4WD Overland with the 5.7L Hemi V8

Also, when you start the car, the drive system should be displayed in the EVIC window.

Greetings,

In addition to fellow member YOCUBED mentioned in the quote, call up Jeep with the VIN and they will tell you exactly what should have come off the factory line to see if matches the sticker.

1-877-IAM-JEEP (426-5337)

Best for now.
