Bent wheel on Altitude

So I made the mistake of letting someone else drive my WK2...get a little alcohol in me and i'll let ya drive my jeep i guess?

He ran completely over a curb that seperates a turning lane from the opposite side of a 2 lane road. Which apparently he didn't see.

Well I didn't see any visible damage at the time.

The next few days I noticed that once I reached about 65 mph the steering wheel started to shake a little. So I took it in yesterday for oil change/tire rotation and balance.

Turns out the front right wheel is bent and the tire has an "impact mark"
So the dealer reccomends a new wheel and tire.

Estimate: $855.91 For new wheel and new tire replacment with alignment.

Does that sound overpriced? about right? Should I get a second opinion?

In the meantime they put the right front tire in the back right, so I don't feel the shaking feeling anymore but he reccomends I get this fixed soon of course in which I agree.

Thinking about looking for an Altitude wheel on ebay, he said just the wheel alone was...$585 I believe?

I must say, perfect timing with holidays arriving.

Probably sounds right for dealer MSRP. Shop around. Find the exact part number, and google. I'm sure justforjeeps can get a better price.

...and don't mix alcohol with your $43K Jeep ever again.

Just looked on justforjeeps and would save about $125!
Can't find any currently on ebay or anything...I did find a whole set of the same style of wheel without the painted black for just $600. Crazy.

Thanks for the reply!
yes, never again with the alcohol. I may not even let anyone drive it again. at least for awhile lol.

Just wanted to give an update! Havent signed in for a couple weeks.

Decided to get a second opinion at a local tire business, they took off the tire and inspected the wheel as well.

They told me YES your wheel IS bent, nothing is wrong with the tire...

So shopped around for a better price on the wheel at a different jeep dealer where I happen to know the parts guy. He ordered me a new wheel for $355!!

Couldn't believe how much the first place I went to, where I BOUGHT the damn thing, wanted to rip me off that much.
Not too happy with them to say the least.

VERY HAPPY although, that I saved myself about $500.

Merry Christmas to me.

I had a very similar accident on thursday that resulted in loosing both passenger side tires and bent the rear rim pretty severely. I was quoted $890 for one 20" overland wheel, and two Fortera tires. After much debate and searching because I felt I was getting screwed too, I found a good deal with a local set of 22" wheels and gonna give them a try. Hopefully the blacked out wheels will look good on my jeep even though I am not a huge fan of that style. Ill be sure to post some pics. Glad to hear things worked out for you and were able to save some cash!

Wow yeah sorry to hear, it's one of those unexpected things that you hate paying for...sort of like a speeding ticket:mad:

Anyway, have you tried ebay? The first thing I did was look for an Altitude wheel on ebay...wasn't able to find any. I did see many sets of overland wheels...i'm sure you could find some on there!
The dealer will try to make money on you any way they can...$890 is ridiculous! Hope the 22's don't effect your ride too much. let us know how it turns out!

I searched and found a few sets on ebay and on the forum, but got the best deal with the 22" KMC D2's. They are on and fit great. Ill take some pics this weekend hopefully. Thanks for the concern, it really does suck and glad we both saved money where we could :)
