Re: Biggest 17" tires on stock wheels?

Same size with 2" spacers (Discoverer A/T3s). It's a nice fit.

You may be right, but if it was going to be by the hair of my chin without them anyway, I'd still opt for something smaller. I don't want to rub when flexing the suspension, especially while off road and I'm sure it would become a problem.

Indeed, Dabitz. I've looked at yours for a source of visual comparison quite often, based on your spacers.

It's a great looking WK2!

I chose the Toyo Open Country's because I use them year round in Boston. We had a foot of snow yesterday and I had zero issues, while most people stayed home or were stuck on the side of the road. They are one of the best AT tires I have found. They are great in snow, wet, dry, hot and cold. No complaints.

How have the 265/65/17 worked out for you? Any rubbing or issues with lock to lock turning? I'm considering doing the same thing in the near future. I'm also running a base WK2 with 17's.

I originally thought about going with 265/70/17 but I think there will be rubbing.

Well, I'm about a year late with the response, but might as well update this thread. I have about 27,000 miles on this setup. No rubbing, and I still have a lot of tread left.

Originally I had planned on using these as my winter setup and run 20's in the Summer, but I never got around to buying the 20's. Most of my play money still goes into the '67. Starting to get the itch to do a 2.5" lift kit with some 20's soon though.

Do you think the 265/70-17 will fit on the stock 17's with a 1.75" leveling kit? Or will it still rub?

Re: Biggest 17" tires on stock wheels?

hey everyone,
need some help with tires please.
i have a 2012 jeep grand cherokee lardo 4x4 and i am wanting to add a 2.5" lift and duratracs tires. Right now its all factory and i am wanting to keep the factory rims to save some cash. but looking to change the stance and look.
right now the tires are p245/70r17.
questions are: what is the best size tire for a 2.5" lift?
I want a bigger tire but not wanting too big that it affects the ride.

thanks

Largest you can go is about a 32" - 33" tire with a lift. Options for 17's are limited...they are 265/70, 275/70, possibly 255/80 or 285/70 depending upon the outside diameter of the specific tire, but that's pushing it.

I actually just saw that the grey bodied Mopar Underground WK2 had 305/65 KM2s (32.8"), but they most definitely had to do some felt liner trimming and probably the pinch weld mod to get those to fit without rubbing. They also probably added spacers to clear the UCA bolt, but that wasn't mentioned in the specs for it.

Re: Biggest 17" tires on stock wheels?

JUST installed that exact kit today - looks a little funny with my stock wheels/tire size, but that will have to do till i can build my funds up for new tires. Everything came in with easy-to-follow instructions, but my clevis bolt refused to move, so I had to let the shop finish the job I started.

Actually trying to figure out what type of tires I need to get now that I have that lift and some 1.5" wheel spacers.
