I picked up a set of new OEM takeoff '15 SRT black chrome Goliath wheels recently and tossed them on my '14 white Summit. I wasnt sure how I would like them being the black chrome clashing with all the bright chrome on the Summit, but I was surprisingly impressed with the look. My plan was to get the wheels first then decide what else needed to be done such as painted mirror caps, handles etc etc
On first impression I would say right off the bat the only thing I need to do would be painted mirror caps as I think the large chunk of bright chrome did infact clash with the black chrome wheels. All the other bright chrome seems ok for the time being since it sort of matches with the chrome center caps and lug nuts. I already have SRT gloss black tail light bezels installed. So after first impression I may do gloss black grill rings, and painted mirror caps and I think I will be 100% satisfied with the look. I figured worst case if I didnt like them I could always turn around the sell the wheels.
Let me know what you guys think! Picture taken with my Canon SL1 DSLR.
This last picture shows the vehicle at normal ride height. All others are at park/entry mode!
I have to admit, reading the thread title before I had opened it I wasn't impressed. Didn't think I'd like it. I was wrong... The rims look great on the Summit!! I really dig it ????
Debating on doing the same to my 2015 Summit with California / Platinum package. I'm looking at the replica Vapor Goliath's. Does anybody have experience with the replica versions of the OP's wheels?
Just took the plunge on these wheels. Ordered them with Hankook Ventus ST in 295/45R20 (have had good experience with this tire in the past). Wheels (20x9) were $768 on Amazon with another $95 for shipping. Tires were $733 including shipping. I used Amazon points and saved another $45 on my purchase, so all in for $1599. I still need the TPMS though. Any ideas on a good place for that or just go with Justforjeeps.com? Thanks.
I still think my Summit looked kinda goofy with those wheels, but it was more so a deal I couldn't pass up. I ended up selling those things for $900 more than I paid. I just couldn't get used to the look on the Summit without doing heavy cosmetic mods and losing all the chrome, plus that was even before I had the lower skirts paint matched. . Now if I still had those wheels to put on my new High Altitude, that would look amazing!!

I didn't want to say anything, but I felt the same way when you posted the pics. I feel like the black chrome didn't match anything on your Summit and I hate the fact that Jeep painted the bottom of the car gray. I still need to get my lower valences painted white to match like you did. Then I figured the polished or chrome goliaths were the way to go to get a nice wide 5-spoke, but still match everything on the jeep.
And yes, I think the black chrome SRT wheels (either type) would be perfect for the High Altitude and I can't believe it hasn't been done yet.
Looks great, I'm debating getting a set of the black chrome goliaths or maybe picking up a set and having them powdercoated gloss black. Going to wait till spring either way.
I went the same route as you. Got some Ventus on Amazon and SRT8 reps on eBay. Local shop here in Hawaii was able to reuse my stock TPMS. Hope that helps
Or you could just pony up and buy a SRT. I hate people adding on all the stuff to make their vehicle look like something it isn't. It's like a Honda Civic with an add-on R badge. Silly.
Ehh I don't necessarily agree with that. For example when I bought SRT wheels I never once had intentions of making my car come off as an SRT. I liked the styling of the wheels, the color, the offset..etc etc. I'm also not a fan of aftermarket wheels, so I don't see the harm in adding wheels from a different model of the same vehicle.
Now adding a badge for a car you don't have is IMO nothing like this, and yes that is down right wrong. As far as ponying up and just buying one, well not everyone can or wants to pay 60k+ on a new vehicle, or 50k for a used 2014 with 20,000+ miles. I think the High Altitude was the perfect answer for those that want a reasonably priced Grand Cherokee with a little more sporty/aggressive look.
Good point and one that evokes some emotional opinions. OEM is chrome lugs and chrome center caps and IMHO black or black chrome would look wrong...I've seen it and it totally makes the rim dull looking...it's weird, the chrome lugs and center cap actually are not bright due to the surrounding black chrome rim reflecting on them and they provide just enough contrast to make the rim really pop...
Detroit Wheel and Tire will take regular OEM rims as cores and send u perfect PVD Black Chrome, far far superior to OEM junk black chrome plating, for about $250 per wheel... I know others say u can get a black powder coat for much less but it ain't a purdy bullet proof PVD Black Chrome finish.
Gotta say JTS,that looks fantastic on your white JGC,good call and whatever you paid for them, worth EVERY cent.EVERY cent. Can see why you may want to change out some of the chrome to get everything to mesh.Personally,I think it looks slick as is.Perfect white machine.
