do you have the tow package? Mine is a summit in the US and cam with a wire harness with connector to attach to a controller of my choice. It connects underneath the steering column. The truck itself is prewired with a connection point from the factory.
GDay Teye,
It would be worthwhile for you head over to the Export Grand Cherokee 2011+ topic where most of the Aussies hang out - quite a few of us have been there, done that with brake controllers....our export version doesn't get brake controller plugin.....
this is just one of the threads - http://www.jeepgarage.org/f190/electric-trailer-brakes-38575.html
Also check out the topics there relating to tow bars in Aus as they usually have brake controller references in them - you'll get plenty of info and if you still want more - post again.
Just to go on with - I installed my Tekonsha P3 myself in the centre cubby, power comes direct from the battery via a 30a circuit breaker, earth goes all the way back to the battery twinned with the power, brake actuation comes from the stop light wire in the trailer plug, and the blue brake supply wire goes alongside that brake wire back to the trailer socket.
Keeps right away from the Jeep Canbus, bog simple, and works fine.
Good luck
John
Hi John, thanks mate will have a look, unfortunately you lost me at cubby but hopefully I can get someone to do the same, I have no issue with hard mechanics but electrics lose me some.
