Can You Use Stock Rotors With Brembo's?

Guys,

I own a 2011 Overland that I'm putting the finishing touches on getting it the way I like it and the finishing mod is adding the Brembo's to the set of OEM SRT8 WK2 wheels I added about a month ago.

I've got the entire parts list thanks to Scott and his EXTREMELY HELPFUL posts on doing this mod, but when sourcing everything out to buy parts I notices I have prob $1000 in new rotors alone.

It's not that it's that big of a deal but since the Overland comes with 20's (They will continue as my winter wheels) and the SRT's will be the summer set - I'm curious if you need to swap out the rotors or not when doing the Brembo Caliper Conversion?

Any experienced Brake guys in this forum? FWIW - I have 55K on the Overland and it's my main work vehicle (i'm in sales and drive 600-800 miles/week).

I liked the style and look of the SRT but wanted the ride of the Overland with as much as I drive so any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

For those interested, here's my mod list to date:

2011 Overland (Black on Black)
-Mopar Chrome Package
-Stainless Pedals
-Volant CAI
-Sharkfin
-20% Fronts and 50% Windshield
-2012 SRT8 OEM Wheels
-Slushmats
-Putco LEDs (Both White Reverses, License Place, and DRLs)
-Extreme Digital Fog Light Kit (4300K as recommended by Xenon Depot)
-Towhooks
-All Skidplates
-Debadged the "Overland Badge" so all it says now is "4 x 4"

-And soon to finish her off, the Brembo's all the way around...

Will take pics once finished as I am in love with how she looks now. It's a beautiful black and chrome look.

So - if anyone can help shed some light as to what rotors come stock on the Overlands and if they'll work or if I have to order those too - the help is appreciated.

Thanks guys!

Andrew

Re: Can You Use Stock Rotors With Brembo's?

the front Overland rotors are 350mm and have a larger "hat". The SRT front rotors are 380mm with a shorter "hat" The rear Overlands are 330mm and SRT's are 350mm...same problem with their "hats" as well. Sorry Andruw...no way around not getting the SRT rotors.

Re: Can You Use Stock Rotors With Brembo's?

Scott - as always, thanks for the help. I'll get pics up once she's complete. I'm curious though if the standard 20" OEM WK2 5 Spoke Wheels will fit with the larger rotors/calipers...

I took a look at my stock wheels and they look similar in I.D. to the SRT's but haven't taken the time yet to measure. I was planning on keeping my 5 Spoke's for winter wheels/tires and then the SRT's for summer. I'll let everyone know what I find out.

Re: Can You Use Stock Rotors With Brembo's?

Interested in doing this brake upgrade to my '12 Summit as well.

Would be very interested to know if the OEM 20" Overland/Summit wheels will clear the Brembo calipers in the front. Looks like they will definately clear in the rear.

Let us now what you find out. Thanks

Re: Can You Use Stock Rotors With Brembo's?

I've ordered all the parts for swapping out the entire setup to Brembo's - ran about $2200 in parts alone. I have the SRT wheels for summer and planning on using the Overland/Summit wheels for winter and will let everyone know if they fit with the brembo setup.

Parts should arrive this upcoming week with the install scheduled for next Sunday (pending everything arriving on time).

Can't wait!

Re: Can You Use Stock Rotors With Brembo's?

Ordered everything and it's all sitting in my garage ready for the install minus the fact that one of the Brembo 6 Piston Front Calipers appears to have been dropped in shipment and there was a chunk of the plastidip/red paint chipped off to the bare metal (And it was on the letter/exterior side too) so I had to have a replacement sent and I'm still waiting on delivery. Should have it by Monday and installed by mid next week. I still stoked as these calipers are HUGE!

I'll come back and post an update once I'm finished. Thanks!
