Anyone have recommendations on chains that will fit over some 285/50/20s?

Thanks

Re: Chains??

Chains are for logging trucks, get some good studded winter tires.

Re: Chains??

I got second hand Thule's from Amazon a couple of years ago for my WK. I brought them to Yosemite but was not required to put them on. They were expensive but quality was very good.

I wouldn't know about your tire size but back then I figured out the size and details from Thule's website and then looked up the part number on Amazon.

Re: Chains??

Thanks for the helpful response. I actually found a set of Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snows on craigslist for a steal and picked them up today. They are going to go on the OEM 20s. Couldn't pass them up for the price.

I put those Pirelli's on my Cherokee, years ago. They were fantastic in the winter but they wore really fast. I only got about 30,000 miles out of them..

Good to hear they are fantastic. I dont drive a whole lot of miles a year so ill probably put less than 4k miles a winter on them. With the amount of tread left they should last at least 3 seasons.

Re: Chains??

I realize you took Alaska-HWY JK's advice to go with tires, but for future reference here's what the owners manual says"

TIRE CHAINS (TRACTION DEVICES)

Use of traction devices require sufficient tire-to-body
clearance. Follow these recommendations to guard
against damage.

• Install on Rear Tires Only

Due to limited clearance, use SAE class “S” low profile
cables or traction devices only. Security Chain Company
(SCC) Super Z6 #SZ 441 cables or equivalent are
recommended.
