If anyone wants to see the links James made for me installed with the bora spacers check out the HA forum. I just posted a bunch of photos on there. Literally 10 minute install with no tools.

Re: DIY homemade air suspension links. Install with pics!

I just popped in the lowering links on my '15 High Altitude. This has got to be the best, inexpensive mod both visual and function wise. It looks great, rides great, makes it easier for my creaky old self to climb in and out and maybe now my wife will stop complaining about how much trouble she has getting in with a tight skirt on. The only possible downside might be if you are going to do some serious off roading and need the added clearance. But, I doubt that Overland, High Altitude and Summit owners are intentionally going that route.

Re: DIY homemade air suspension links. Install with pics!

FYI everyone - James & i discovered this weekend that his links will NOT work as designed on a '16. i had no idea what the stock '15 links looked like and he had no idea what the '16 links looked like, so we were both surprised to discover they are vastly different. apparently, earlier years used a curved link while the '16s use a straight link. see the attachment - stock links are black, james' are silver. his front links start out 5" total length - this pic was taken after hours of messing with it - shortening a little, trying again, shortening a little, trying again. i got it down to 11.8cm (~4.65") and it still didn't work. by "didn't work", i mean the car would cycle through all suspension positions no problem EXCEPT "Entry/Exit". it would just flash with the down arrow indefinitely and never get there.

james was extremely helpful during this process. certainly not his fault, and he doesn't have a '16 to test on. he suggested i leave his rear links on and try the stock front links to eliminate variables. did this, no issues. so, where we ended up is that when i have some time i'm going to try to disassemble his link and mess with lengths on my own to see what eventually works, if anything. i'm posting this pic in case someone with more time and/or knowledge/skill wants to give it a shot first. please let us all know if you have something that works on a '16.

Re: DIY homemade air suspension links. Install with pics!

Interesting... The new 16 links look like they are nicely built.

Did you check you measurements with the stock links in to see if it still rides at the same heights in each mode as the 15s? With the design now being a straight link did you try just out of curiosity to shorten it? With the same respect I would also try lengthening it more than the 5". Nothing crazy but try like 5.25 and see what happens. Maybe that curve meant more than we realize.

Re: DIY homemade air suspension links. Install with pics!

as mentioned, i started out with 5" links and that was too long. ended up with 4.65" links which were still too long, apparently.

stock are made from some sort of plastic/polymer. the ends spin around but i don't see how they would be removable and wouldn't know how to re-attach. seems like messing with them = breakage.

and no, i need to take measurements to compare.
