Re: Duratrac wrangler 275/55/20

Have to report - there is a little rubbing with my Duratracs:

In Park height (again, I have QL), full lock right, in reverse the left front wheel rubs a little bit. It is not a problem, not a major one anyway, and as they say "just don't do that!" - but still, a little rubbing.

With the car full with four adults and driving at NRH (QL's Normal Ride Height), when hitting some decent bumps the left rear tire rubs when the suspension is compressed. It is not a lot, only a brief rubbing, but passengers might become a little startled.

These are minor annoyances, and so far I stil love the tires. As the tire installer said, "Now it looks like a Jeep!"

Re: Duratrac wrangler 275/55/20

So is there anyone running these without Quadra Lift, on the regular suspension setup?

Any rubbing?

Re: Duratrac wrangler 275/55/20

I am not but, i have been researching pretty heavily and seems the quadralift has more issue with rubbing than the traditional suspension system. Based on 3 weeks of reading everything on here, you are more likely better off from a space standpoint.

285/50/20 doesn't rub on either suspensions so im not sure why people are taking a chance with 275/55/20

twice the tire options at 275/55/20 and fills up more wheel well. I can deal with a full wheel lock, in reverse and park ride height. That's not a big deal to me. I just ordered BFgoodrich KO2 275/55/20 - lots of positive reviews and nice aggressive look. $228/Tire, not cheap but the reviews are very good. I also have a i2010 Diablosport to adjust for tire size. Diablo confirmed the ABS issue has been addressed

285/50/20 doesnt look any less aggressive.
It does look less like a rollerskate than with a 275/55/20

As far as options. Plenty and none of them rub.
285 50 20 or 285 50R20 Discount Tires

OK - 34 options. 275/55/20 - 58 options 20

As I said more options. Don't let me stop you from picking up some low profile tires for your jeep. You should also get a rear wing bolted on the roof and truck nuts.

Sorry I didnt know you were that passionate about tires that only rub sometimes.
I know when I walk into a dealer I tell them im only interested in a car that works 95% of the time.
Doesnt everyone?

I also didnt know a 285/50 was more lower profile than the OEM 265/50.

More low-pro than 55's we're discussing in the thread superman.

My 30" rims are more protected which I like. The 275/55s are a little taller and have more sidewall bulge.

On another note...

Yesterday I drove 300 miles with 4 large adults. No rubbing on any bumps whatsoever, a good thing.
