Re: Duratracs and Mopar offroad wheels on a 2014

Ordered mine and they came in Friday and I got them installed - the guys at discount were impressed.

They were dead at 3pm so I got to talking to several of them. They had never seen the new diesel. They had never had to turn off the air suspension in the 14 (I showed them both ways). I had to tell them before they even started, that they will fit - within 10 seconds of them starting, I could hear them mumbling, so I had to turn around and reassure them they fit.

Absolutely changes the look of the jeep. They do drone/hum more than stocks, obviously. Which is fine and understandable. I remember someone said that they can't hear them with the radio on 10 and listening to talk radio. Uhhhh - they're either lying or deaf.

Sorry for the crappy cellphone pics...all I had for now.

They probably werent lying or deaf. Aggressive tread tires usually quiet down after some mileage.

what is your tire pressure? Maybe that is the problem.

I'm not even sure what your last comment means - this isn't my first rodeo. I'm running them at 36 psi.

My only point is that they are not quiet, and they never will be compared to the stocks that came on them. Thus I found it funny that a comment like that was made although it had no bearing on my decision on what tire to go with.

It means mine quieted down after a few hundred miles. And that high tire pressure can make a tire sound different especially over scored pavement.

I had to convince my tire guy that they wouldnt rub while he was installing them too.
i agree it completely changes the attitude of the jeep. Enjoy.

Since I made this comment in question, I will clarify as to make sure no one gets the wrong impression of these tires, see original text:

"Noise- louder than stock although I hear it quiets down with miles. Not obnoxious. At 75 mph I had the news radio at a volume of 10 and heard it over the tires and other noise. It's not burdening but you can def hear it."

In other words- it makes noise, for sure, but I was able to hear the radio at a low volume over the tire noise and wind noise, so to explain that the tires are not obnoxiously loud.

Btw- had these tires in the 18" of snow in the northern DC area and these tires were amazing! These perform flawlessly in the snow and even with some 3ft snow drifts I drove through, never had a worry about getting stuck.

Thanks for clarifying.

Apologies not quoting you 100% correctly.

They look great. Will they rub if you had to let your tyre pressures down to say 15psi for soft sand driving?

I've got a my14 limited diesel with standard 20's but i'm also looking for a good wheel tyre package for soft sand / off road use.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Looks great. I take it this size does not fit in the spare tire well? Or at least it does fit diameter wise but not width wise, so the lid doesn't close properly?

Re: Duratracs and Mopar offroad wheels on a 2014

Gents, Who have the 275 / 18's on a CRD. have you been able to figure what if any MPG decrease you've experinced running the Duratracs?

I have owned / loved Duratracs on my 05 Xterra and want them back on, but do not want to sacrifice too much MPG's

Your input is appreciated

Re: Duratracs and Mopar offroad wheels on a 2014

I think I posted about it somewhere - but I personally saw about 1.3-1.5 MPG loss with the tires. YRMV
